EVENT NOTES:
For the first time, Dante Reed isn’t hosting a DRIP card in Chicago, but rather he’s become the guest of honor, as he takes the show on the road to Columbia, South Carolina to scout fresh new talent. With the renovations taking place at the former Union GP Performance Institute and newly rebranded BST Center, Dante, along with Perry Wallace and Cass Madrigal, are primarily interested in a trio of fighters coming from the Columbia-based Metropolitan Kombat Klub. Two fighters in particular have had stints on the big stage before, with Tilly Jean Wade competing for Union and Hagen Lecktor having a cup of coffee in Everest, and they are the founders of MKK.
Hagen Lecktor is first to compete and makes quick work out of Sam Spencer with a first round armbar submission victory. Lecktor’s Jiu-Jitsu is a work of art, as evident from his Submission Madness Tournament win, but still has some room for improvement in the striking department.
Tilly Jean Wade is the Co-Main Event and similar to her teammate and business partner Hagen Lecktor, she scores a submission victory with an armbar late in the third round. Wade was one of the inaugural Bantamweight contenders when she made her professional debut, but after a 2-0 start, she faltered and lost two straight, and was released from her contract. Since then, she has honed her skill set and looks more well-rounded and ready to make another splash on the big stage.
Finally in the Main Event of the night, MKK Heavyweight Von Mathieu left the fans stunned after a flash knockout win over previously unbeaten Ty Parker in the first round. There’s no question that Mathieu commands attention when he enters the octagon, as the 6’10” behemoth’s size and strength cannot be ignored.
After the night of fights ended, Dante Reed, Perry Wallace, and Cass Madrigal visited the MKK locker room and spoke highly of the fighters and gym. When it was all said and done, Dante Reed offered Lecktor, Wade, and Mathieu contracts to compete in Union GP.
