ISAAC COHEN: “We are nearing fight night here in Brooklyn, New York and right now I’m with the Bantamweight Champion Redd Lennox who was set to take part in our main event against C.C Flynn. Due to unfortunate events Supa has pulled out of the fight and now you’re set to take on Magdelena Moruga. It’s been a wild build up and I just wanna get right to it. How are you feeling about Supa pulling out of the fight?”
REDD LENNOX: “She ran, she ran from the smoke. If she’s really hurt nothing should have to be undisclosed. That’s why I feel like she’s running and it’s not ok. Everyone came out here to see me piece her up but she does this? I’m mad man. This is cowardly actions to the extreme. Like I’m just hearing about this minutes ago. Luckily Mags is able to to step up and take the challenge like a true fighter should, and to think I gifted her this opportunity. Supa coward.”
ISAAC COHEN: “You fought Magdelena earlier this year in a fight that showed that you meant business. Since that loss Moruga has been on a tear, and a lot would say she really should be the one fighting you here tonight. Now that you know she’s your opponent, how has things changed for you?”
REDD LENNOX: “The only thing that has changed is my opponent. Every fight for me is the same. I come to the cage and just do what I do. With Magdelena we’ve already fought so I feel like I have a good sense on how she’s going to fight. She’s most definitely gonna come out and give it her all and that’s what I like, but I’ve stopped her before. I don’t see any reason why I can’t do it again.”
ISAAC COHEN: “This will be your second time defending your belt. Last time it was Mexico. This time it’s New York. What’s the difference in this defense from your first?”
REDD LENNOX: “The first defense to me solidifies that me becoming the Bantamweight Champion was no fluke. This defense is all about showing that this division belongs to me, I would have loved to do that against Supa, but either way I really want people to know that in order to take this belt off of me you are really gonna have to work for it. There won’t be any shortcuts unless given. I’m looking to sit in this position for a long time and after tomorrow night everyone will feel that.”
ISAAC COHEN: “If you defend against Magdelena tomorrow night, will Supa still get the next shot in line?”
REDD LENNOX: “It all depends. I don’t want to look like I’m over looking the fighters who want to fight for this belt. That’s why I’m always looking to fight whoever is next up. If Supa wants to untuck her tail and finally give the people what they want to see then I’m down for it, but if it’s someone else I’m also down for it. This is what I do. I fight, so it doesn’t matter. As long as I’m in the cage big things are happening, and if people wanna see me fight all the time then hey why not?”
ISAAC COHEN: “In your first fight against Magdelena you did the unexpected. Nobody had you winning that fight. With her feeling your power, being able to see a nice sample size of what you do, are you expecting a new game plan from Moruga?”
REDD LENNOX: “No, since she’s lost to me she has been killing it, but the same way she fought against me, she’s fought against everyone on her streak. I really feel like I’m just better than her anywhere in the cage. Her best attribute almost becomes a non factor against me, because I command the cage. I make people feel me in there. We can go blow for blow and it’ll always be me standing.”
ISAAC COHEN: “There are rumors swirling around that in your contract you have a clause that pretty much states if you defend, you could ultimately have a title versus title fight with 2Face Rodriguez. How true is that?”
REDD LENNOX: “It’s true. If I win tomorrow night I’m guaranteed a shot at the Lightweight title, but we’ll see how that goes. I really wanna get those rounds in with Supa, so hey what happens happens, but yeah…coach really pushed for that for me. He knows it’s a goal of mines to become the second person to hold two belts in Union, but to actually defend. It’s high up there on my bucket list so I really wanna guarantee that with a win, and I had that in my mind for my next fight. UGP 50 me versus 2Face would have been huge. Like really really big you know, but yeah man we’ll just see how things play out.”
