The official weigh-ins for UGP 66: SOKOLOV vs MOMO’A II are complete, but not without major last minute changes that have reshuffled the card just days before fight night. Fight week took a turn when Featherweight Title Challenger Lucija Dragicevic was forced to withdraw from her Championship bout due to an undisclosed injury.
Unable to fill a replacement opponent in time, #3-ranked Eugenie Bombelles and #6-ranked Marissa Kane has been promoted to the Co-Main Event slot. The highly anticipated Bantamweights clash now carries even greater spotlight as both women look to inch closer to title contention with a statement victory on a global stage.
The reshuffle also bumped Byron McCall vs Aziz Qasim into the opening bout of the Main Card.
Adding further intrigue to the Prelims, a new bout has been added into the Featured Early Prelim position. Originally scheduled for Boss Fight 54, the matchup between #7-ranked Ciaran Callahan and Shunsuke Futaki moved up one week early. Due to the short notice nature of the change, the two agreed to meet at a catchweight, giving fans a compelling stylistic showdown as a lead-in to the night’s bigger bouts.
Despite the adjustments, anticipation remains sky high for the Main Event, as reigning Champion Alexander Sokolov looks to defend his title in a instant rematch against top contender Zion Momo’a. With title implications and rising contenders spread across the restructured main card, UGP 66 promises a night of high drama, elite talent, and unforgettable moments from Saitama.
UGP 66: SOKOLOV vs MOMO’A II takes place Sunday, May 18 at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan and will be streaming exclusively on the Battleground Network. The Early Prelims will kick off at 6:00 PM ET, the Prelims will kick off at 8:00 pm ET, and the Main Card will kick off at 10:00 pm ET.
