WHAT IS UNION GP?
Union Grand Prix, commonly known as Union GP or UGP, is the vision of founder Dante Reed, a figure recognized for innovation and forward thinking within mixed martial arts. What began as a series of experimental events built around one-off single elimination tournaments and round robin formats quickly gained traction. As interest grew, Reed’s concept evolved into a full scale MMA promotion with a global reach.
Today, Union GP is widely regarded as the sport’s premier organization. Its reputation is anchored by a deep and diverse roster that spans rising prospects, established contenders, and legendary icons. With a commitment to global talent identification, Union GP showcases athletes from every corner of the world, ensuring each event features distinct styles, compelling stories, and elite competition.
Union GP also serves as the centerpiece of a broader combat sports ecosystem developed by Dante Reed. Beginning in 2026, the promotion formed a “Big Four” partnership with four mid-major organizations across the globe. This includes the revival of Everest MMA as a platform for North American talent, the return of Ryūjin FC to deliver the traditional spirit of Japanese MMA, the Euro Fight Circuit highlighting Europe’s top fighters, and Campeonato de Lucha Azteca, which spotlights the best talent from Latin America.
Complementing this structure is DRIP, Dante Reed’s International Promotions, a global scouting initiative dedicated to identifying the next generation of breakout stars. DRIP primarily hosts events at Union Grand Prix’s BST Center in Chicago, Illinois, where fighters compete for potential Union GP contracts, while also traveling internationally to evaluate top unsigned talent.
All Union GP and affiliated programming streams exclusively on the Battleground Network, a growing multi-platform destination offering live events, archival content, and original programming. With Union GP at its core, the Battleground Network has established itself as an essential hub for combat sports fans worldwide.

APPLICATION PROCESS
NOTE: We currently only accept fully dedicated MMA fighter characters with MMA fighter pic bases.
As Union GP continues to grow, so too does its footprint in the global MMA landscape. The promotion has expanded its operations to include several key branches, each offering unique opportunities for fighters at various stages of their careers. This expansion not only broadens the reach of the organization but also creates new pathways for athletes looking to make their mark in the sport.
To help fighters better understand their options and determine the best fit for their goals, here’s a detailed breakdown of the available platforms under the Union GP banner:
— APPLY THROUGH DRIP
Welcome to Dante Reed’s International Promotions, better known as DRIP, the official scouting branch of Union GP. Think of it as a blend between Dana White’s Contender Series and Lookin’ for a Fight, with its own distinct flavor and format. Spearheaded by Union GP Founder and CEO Dante Reed, DRIP is designed to identify the next wave of MMA talent and offer them a path into the sport’s upper echelon.
At the heart of the operation is the BST Center, a state-of-the-art facility located at Union GP’s headquarters in Chicago, Illinois. There, Reed hosts exclusive events featuring unsigned fighters from across the globe, each competing for a coveted opportunity to earn a contract with Union GP. It’s a high stakes proving ground, and for many athletes, the first real step toward a professional breakthrough.
But DRIP isn’t limited to the Chicago home base. Reed also travels the country, and in some cases, the world, attending regional shows, scouting emerging talent, and keeping an eye on fighters generating buzz on the local scene. Whether it’s a highlight reel finish in a small town gym or a gritty performance in front of a hometown crowd, if a fighter’s making noise, DRIP is listening.
For young fighters chasing the dream, this is where visibility begins, and where careers can change overnight.
— APPLY THROUGH A MID-MAJOR PROMOTION
Welcome to the proving grounds. This is where fighters cut their teeth.
With the launch of the Big Four Partnership, a new pathway has opened for rookies, developing prospects, and even the aging veterans who just don’t know when to quit. These mid-major promotions provide a high visibility platform, smaller in scale, but rich with opportunity, where careers can be built, rebuilt, and redefined.
Each partner promotion represents a distinct region and talent pool. Everest MMA serves as the showcase for North American fighters. Ryūjin FC highlights elite talent from across Asia. The Euro Fight Circuit spotlights Europe’s best, while Campeonato de Lucha Azteca elevates top competitors from Latin and South America. Fighters are encouraged to align with the promotion that best fits their background, market, and career goals.
At this level, the focus is development, momentum, and growth. Fighters may spend as much time as needed honing their craft, and opportunities exist to compete across multiple promotions and regions. Every bout is a chance to gain experience, build a reputation, and position yourself for the call to the big stage.
This is where the climb begins and where the next breakout star is forged.
— APPLY THROUGH UNION GP
Welcome to the fuckin’ show!
At this level of competition, the expectations are high, and so is the standard. With the continued growth of Union GP and the expansion of its Big 4 mid-major partnership, the level of talent entering the system has never been stronger. As a result, debuting fighters are expected to come in with the pedigree, preparation, and presence to match the stage.
When it comes to fighter placement, a number of factors are considered, including experience, résumé, and overall readiness. Whether you’re a rising prospect making your first splash or a seasoned veteran looking for new challenges, there’s a place for you in the ecosystem. That said, for those just starting out, we strongly recommend beginning at the mid-major levels. It’s a chance to sharpen your skills, build momentum, and make a statement before stepping onto the main stage.
Ultimately, though, the path you take is your own to define.
— MISCELLANEOUS
Characters: Unlimited creations allowed. Active participation through social media, role plays, and/or content creation is expected in a minimal capacity.
Gyms: Create your own gym, obtain permission to use existing e-fed gyms, or select from pre-made options.
TL;DR
– DRIP: (Scouting Brand) Showcase your skills at BST Center in Chicago or regional events. Opportunity to earn contracts with Union GP.
– Big 4 Mid-Majors: (Developmental Brand) Four partnered regional promotions operating across distinct territories. This is the proving ground where fighters position themselves for a call up to the big league.
– Union GP: (Premier Brand) For experienced fighters with a proven track record. High expectations for performance and promotion.
HOW ARE FIGHTS DETERMINED?
At the end of the day, it’s not just about wins and losses, it’s about telling a compelling story. The heart of this platform lies in narrative, and the fighters who stand out are the ones who bring their characters to life in meaningful, memorable ways.
That said, there are a few key factors that play a major role in determining how a fighter is positioned and promoted within the promotion:
Active Participation: Staying engaged is crucial. Whether it’s through social media presence, interviews that can be featured on the website and live events, or consistent involvement in storylines, the more visible and active you are, the more momentum your character can build.
Character Development: It’s about more than just stats and results. Fighters with rich backstories, defined personalities, and distinct fighting styles bring depth to the roster and keep fans (readers) invested in their journey.
In this space, the spotlight doesn’t just find you, you have to earn it. And the best way to do that is by giving people a reason to get invested.
PAY TIERS AND BONUSES
When it comes to fighter contracts, this promotion takes a different approach than what you might see in the real world fight game. Rather than the traditional “show and win” model used by many major organizations, we operate with a fixed base pay system, one that’s tied directly to a fighter’s current standing within the company.
Contract terms are straightforward and negotiable, primarily focused on two key elements: base salary and the number of fights agreed upon. This structure allows for clarity and consistency, both for the fighters and the promotion.
Contract renewal is an essential part of staying active on the roster. With minimal requirements for regular participation, the renewal process serves as a vital checkpoint to confirm a fighter’s continued interest and availability. Fighters are encouraged to reach out via Twitter at any time during their current deal to begin negotiations for a new contract.
Should a fighter’s contract expire without renewal, they’ll be designated as inactive and moved to the alumni list. This means they will not be eligible for bookings until a new agreement is reached.
Below, you’ll find the current incentive pay model breakdown of how fighter placement corresponds with earnings:
— SHOW MONEY
PRELIMS AND UNDERCARD ($10,000)
CO-MAIN EVENT ($25,000)
MAIN EVENT/TITLE FIGHT ($50,000)
— WIN MONEY
PRELIM AND UNDERCARD WIN ($10,000)
CO-MAIN EVENT WIN ($25,000)
MAIN EVENT/TITLE FIGHT WIN ($50,000)
— BONUSES
TITLE WIN ($100,000)
FIGHT OF THE NIGHT ($50,000)
PERFORMANCE OF THE NIGHT ($50,000)
MOST VALUABLE PROMOTER ($50,000) *
* = The Most Valuable Promoter Bonus is a special recognition reserved for fighters who go above and beyond when it comes to generating buzz around their bout and the event as a whole. The MVP Bonus is not guaranteed for each card. It’s selective, and intentionally so. This accolade is reserved for those who show exceptional effort in promoting their fight, whether through interviews, social media presence, storyline engagement, or any other form of outreach that builds anticipation and elevates the event’s profile.
Example of a payout for a Union GP Co-Main Event win for a rookie fighter:
$50,000 (Rookie Base Pay) + $25,000 (Co-Main Event Show) + $25,000 (Co-Main Event Win) + $50,000 (Performance of the Night Bonus) = $150,000 Total Earnings on the night.
