UGP 65 WEIGH-IN RESULTS
There’s something about fight week in Miami, a buzz that you can feel in your bones. The Kaseya Center, that modern coliseum by the bay, will host UGP 65: MARSHALL vs HOLMES this Saturday night, and after all 22 fighters successfully hit their marks at the scale, it’s officially go-time for a card that feels more like a proving ground than a showcase.
At the top of the bill is Victoria Marshall, the reigning Bantamweight queen with a 14-fight unbeaten streak’s worth of grit and an unshakable confidence forged from a lifetime in the fire. She hit the 135-pound limit like she’s done it a hundred times before. Across from her is Serenity Holmes, the blue-chip upstart with an 8-1 record and the kind of poise that makes you forget how new she is to these lights. It’s youth versus experience, chaos against calculation, with a gold belt hanging in the balance. One woman’s reign, the other’s arrival, that’s the story here.
Then there’s the Co-Main Event, a tale as old as the weight class itself: Jordan Parker, the stoic, no-frills Lightweight Champion, squaring off against the relentless pressure of Benji Meyers, the division’s #1 contender and a man who knows exactly what it takes to wear the crown. Both made weight without theatrics, which is appropriate, because when they meet in the cage, words won’t be necessary. Their rivalry doesn’t need selling. It just needs settling.
The Undercard is a powder keg of implications. Syn Saetang and MANDEM, the #2 and #3 Bantamweights, both look like they were carved for carnage, two contenders who fight like they’ve already heard the title shot clock ticking. At Featherweight, Jalen Briggs welcomes Miami’s own Cole Carter to a proving ground of pressure, while in the Welterweight ranks, #1 Mustafa Al-Masri takes on #2 Connor Bouchard in a bout that feels like a title eliminator in everything but name.
Even the prelims are flexing muscle. The featured bout pits Everest MMA SZN 3 Champion Kian De Beer against Miami homegrown standout Robin Kelson in a Welterweight scrap that feels like it could’ve been plucked from the main card. And on the early prelims, the Webster brothers, Mojo and Chanson, look to stake their claim as a family worth watching.
With the weigh-ins behind us, UGP 65 stands poised on the edge of something electric. The cage is built. The stories are written. All that’s left is to watch the drama unfold in front of a sold-out crowd in the Magic City.
UGP 65: MARSHALL vs HOLMES takes place Sunday, April 20 at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida and will be streaming exclusively on the Battleground Network. The Early Prelims will kick off at 6:00 PM ET, the Prelims will kick off at 8:00 pm ET, and the Main Card will kick off at 10:00 pm ET.
The two title bouts are scheduled for five rounds. All other bouts are scheduled for three rounds.
