BACKSTORY

Natalia Gutierrez grew up in Chihuahua, Mexico, in a working-class family. Initially, she took up boxing as a way to channel her energy and was inspired by her father, a passionate fan of the sport. With limited opportunities in boxing, Natalia transitioned to MMA at 21 and secured a contract with Everest MMA, the developmental league to Union GP, after a string of regional victories.

However, her stint in Everest MMA was lackluster. Facing tougher competition than she had anticipated, her underdeveloped ground game and lack of experience showed. After suffering a series of tough losses, Everest MMA released her, citing her inability to adapt to the high-level grappling and wrestling of her opponents. Devastated but determined, Natalia returned to the Mexican regional circuit, where she worked tirelessly to round out her game.

Training with a renowned coach in Juárez, Mexico, she refined her skill set. This period of grinding away at the regional level rebuilt her confidence, and she compiled a series of impressive wins, including two knockout victories and a submission win. Her perseverance and growth caught the attention of major promotions again, earning her a second shot at the big stage.

Now, with renewed determination and a sharpened skillset, Natalia is ready to prove that her time in Everest MMA was a learning experience, not a setback.
