KENNARD ROZIER SET TO RETURN IN 2023
CHICAGO — The former Union Grand Prix Heavyweight Champion Kennard Rozier is set to return to action in 2023, but don’t call it a comeback.
Rozier, who was known for his terrifying power and formidable agility, first rose to fame in the MMA world during the 2019 Championship Grand Prix series, where he quickly became a fan favorite and one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world. He captured the Heavyweight Title in the Grand Prix finals and successfully defended his title three times, a Heavyweight Division record that still stands today. He suffered his first loss after signing a new massive contract to Roscoe Robinson in a highly touted Openweight SuperFight. After that, he would go on to lose to Owen Barnes in back-to-back contests by first round knockouts.
After the three-fight skid, Rozier had announced his retirement and focused on his family and personal life. However, he never lost his love for MMA and deep down, always dreamed of making a return.
That became a reality when Rozier announced his intentions to return to the sport in December, ending the nine month retirement, while also moving 9th World to Miami, Florida.
The news of Rozier’s return has been met with excitement and enthusiasm from fans and critics alike, and many are already speculating about potential future matchups for the former champion. At just 26 years old, it’s clear that Rozier still has a lot of fight left in him, and fans can’t wait to see what he does next. Whether he can reclaim his former glory and capture another title remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: Rozier is back, and he’s ready to make an impact.
