UGP 58: DOG FACE vs VOLKOV III LIVE!

ROUND ONE: The opening prelim bout began with an electrifying crowd roaring for their local fighter, Tatiana Ruiz. Ruiz, known for her aggressive Taekwondo striking and solid ground game, opened the round with a series of sharp leg kicks aimed at slowing down Sky Sakarya. Sakarya, a student of boxing with powerful striking and a strong chin, responded with quick jabs, showcasing her superior reach and hand speed. Ruiz attempted to close the distance, looking to bring the fight to the clinch where she could utilize her knees and elbows. However, Sakarya’s footwork and lateral movement made it difficult for Ruiz to trap her against the cage. Midway through the round, Sakarya landed a crisp one-two combination that snapped Ruiz’s head back, eliciting gasps from the crowd. Despite the early success of Sakarya’s striking, Ruiz managed to secure a body lock and executed a trip takedown, bringing the fight to the ground. The Brazilian fans erupted in cheers as Ruiz worked from the top position, looking to pass Sakarya’s guard. Sakarya, displaying improved groundwork from her training, managed to tie Ruiz up and avoid significant damage. The round ended with Ruiz maintaining top control but unable to mount significant offense. The crowd showed their appreciation for both fighters with loud applause as they returned to their corners.
ROUND TWO: The second round saw a shift in momentum as Sakarya adapted her strategy. Knowing she needed to keep the fight standing, Sakarya utilized her jab effectively, keeping Ruiz at bay. She began to mix in body shots, further wearing down Ruiz’s gas tank. Ruiz, relentless in her pursuit, continued to push forward but started showing signs of fatigue from the constant pressure and body work. Sakarya capitalized on her striking advantage, landing a powerful right hook that wobbled Ruiz. Sensing an opportunity, Sakarya unleashed a flurry of punches, forcing Ruiz to backpedal. Ruiz managed to weather the storm and attempted another takedown. This time, however, Sakarya’s takedown defense held firm, and she stuffed the attempt, keeping the fight on the feet. As the round progressed, Sakarya’s confidence grew. She began throwing combinations with more frequency and accuracy, peppering Ruiz with strikes from all angles. Ruiz, visibly slowed, tried to clinch and bring the fight to the ground again but found little success against Sakarya’s sprawl. The round ended with Sakarya landing a clean uppercut that left Ruiz on Bambi legs. The horn blew, and Sakarya walked back to her corner with a sense of confidence, having dominated the round with her striking.
ROUND THREE: Entering the final round, the energy in the Farmasi Arena was tense. The crowd, although still supporting Ruiz, showed respect for Sakarya’s impressive performance thus far. Ruiz, knowing she needed to make a decisive move, came out aggressively, throwing wild hooks and trying to clinch. Sakarya, calm and composed, continued to rely on her boxing skills, landing clean counters and avoiding most of Ruiz’s power shots. Ruiz managed to catch Sakarya with a solid overhand right, momentarily stunning her. The crowd roared as Ruiz seized the opportunity, closing the distance and clinching against the cage. She worked for a takedown, but Sakarya’s defense was impenetrable. Ruiz switched tactics and began to throw short knees and elbows in the clinch, scoring some points but not doing significant damage. Breaking free from the clinch, Sakarya re-established her range and resumed her striking assault. She landed a brutal combination that visibly hurt Ruiz, who was now bleeding from a cut above her left eye. Despite the damage, Ruiz displayed incredible heart, continuing to push forward and attempt to turn the tide. With a minute left in the fight, Sakarya’s conditioning and striking accuracy shone through. She landed a series of punches that staggered Ruiz, forcing her to cover up. The crowd, appreciating the display of skill and toughness from both fighters, was on their feet. The final seconds saw Sakarya in control, landing precise strikes until the final horn.
The judges scored the bout unanimously in favor of Sky Sakarya, who secured rounds two and three with her striking dominance and takedown defense. The final decision was met with respectful applause from the Brazilian crowd, acknowledging both fighters’ efforts and Sakarya’s impressive victory on enemy territory.

Both fighters enter the octagon with contrasting styles, promising a thrilling contest. Callahan, known for his grappling expertise, appears calm and focused. On the other hand, Yoshito exudes confidence, his striking skills honed from years of Lethwei training, setting the stage for a classic striker versus grappler showdown. As the opening bell rings, Yoshito immediately takes the center of the octagon, throwing a quick series of jabs and low kicks to establish his range. Callahan, displaying his characteristic composure, circles away, looking for an opening to shoot for a takedown. Yoshito’s striking is crisp and precise, landing several punches that force Callahan to backpedal. The crowd roars as Yoshito lands a solid right hook, staggering Callahan momentarily. Callahan recovers quickly, feinting a left jab before diving in for a double leg takedown. Yoshito, anticipating the move, sprawls effectively, showcasing solid takedown defense. On the ground, Callahan works methodically, advancing to half guard and then to side control. Yoshito struggles but manages to avoid significant damage by maintaining a tight defense. Callahan attempts a Kimura, but Yoshito’s toughness and grappling acumen allow him to wriggle free and return to his feet just as the round ends. The crowd gives a mixed reaction, appreciating both fighters’ efforts.
ROUND TWO: The second round begins with a renewed intensity. Yoshito, aware of Callahan’s grappling threat, keeps his distance, using his superior striking to keep the Frenchman at bay. He launches a series of high kicks and body shots, some of which find their mark. Callahan, undeterred, absorbs the strikes and presses forward, determined to close the distance. Midway through the round, Yoshito attempts a spinning back fist, but Callahan ducks under and secures a body lock, driving Yoshito against the cage. From there, Callahan executes a beautiful trip takedown, landing in side control once again. The crowd’s anticipation builds as Callahan transitions smoothly into full mount, raining down elbows and punches. Yoshito’s resilience is on full display as he bucks and rolls, eventually creating space to escape back to his feet. However, Callahan remains attached like a shadow, pulling Yoshito back into a grappling exchange. This time, Callahan shifts his strategy, deftly maneuvering to take Yoshito’s back. With Callahan’s legs locked around Yoshito’s waist, he works to sink in a rear naked choke. Yoshito defends valiantly, but Callahan transitions seamlessly into a Ninja Choke. Yoshito struggles, but Callahan’s technique is impeccable. With no escape in sight, Yoshito is forced to tap out.
The crowd erupts in applause for both fighters. Callahan’s victory is a testament to his grappling superiority and tactical acumen while under the tutelage of Hall of Famer Delaney Donovan, while Yoshito’s heart showcased his potential. Sasha Volkov has made the most of his time so far in Union. He’s 2-0 in in the promotion, winning both by knockout at exactly two minutes and thirty-seven. To top it off, he scored Performance of the Night bonuses on both of those wins. It’s clear that the Volkov pedigree is genetic and I can probably speak for everyone that we cannot wait to see him climb the ranks. He’s a surefire future top contender and in all likelihood a future Champion in this sport.”

Smelling blood, Parsons unleashed a relentless assault, her punches landing with increasing frequency. Elamin, displaying his toughness, absorbed the punishment and clinched, desperately seeking a takedown to change the fight’s trajectory. As the round neared its conclusion, Parsons managed to scramble back to her feet, delivering a final flurry of strikes that had Elamin on the defensive. The crowd was on its feet, sensing the fight’s intensity reaching a boiling point.
ROUND THREE: Despite both fighters showing signs of fatigue due to their relentless efforts, the third round began with a sense of urgency. Parsons, dialed in by her corner’s encouragement, pressed forward with relentless aggression. Elamin, recognizing the need for a decisive move, tried to keep his distance, countering with kicks and occasional jabs. A critical moment came when Parsons slipped a jab and landed a crushing right hook, sending Elamin crashing to the mat. Parsons capitalized and pounced on Elamin, raining down a hailstorm of punches. Elamin, despite his commendable toughness, struggled to defend himself effectively. The referee hovered closely, assessing the situation. Elamin attempted to tie Parsons up to mitigate the onslaught, but her relentless ground and pound proved overwhelming. With Elamin unable to intelligently defend himself, the referee stepped in, calling a halt to the bout.
The crowd erupted as Rachel Parsons was declared the winner by TKO, her hand raised in triumph. As Parsons celebrated her hard-earned victory, Elamin showed respect, acknowledging her superior performance tonight.

BYRON McCALL: “Good to see Hendrik Geen immersing himself in the atmosphere and getting a sense of what he’s stepping into with MMA. It’s exciting to see these new divisions taking shape and anticipating which fighters will rise to prominence. Although Hendrik is new to MMA, he brings a wealth of experience from years of kickboxing. Training with the world-renowned Hit Squad is a significant advantage for him. This elite gym is home to top-tier fighters like Donnie Calabrese, Derrius Webb, and Zion Momo’a. Additionally, the team is led by Hall of Fame Head Coach Roscoe Robinson, whose expertise has shaped numerous champions. With this level of support and training, Hendrik is in excellent hands. I can’t wait to see him make his debut in the octagon this summer!”

BODIE SULLIVAN: “Welcome back ladies and gentlemen! As we get ready for the Featured Prelim bout, let’s not forget the star-studded crowd. Here with us tonight in Rio is a rising Bantamweight prospect who has been very active and turning heads, Serenity Holmes. The dual-sport competitor has been on a hot streak since signing on with Union GP, winning three straight and all by finish. The young prospect shows a lot of promise and has her sights set on big things in MMA.”
BYRON McCALL: “Serenity Holmes has demonstrated significant progress each time she steps into the octagon. Just recently, during an interview, she hinted at her ambition to take on a top ten ranked opponent for her next fight. Honestly, I believe she’s ready for this challenge. Her performances have been nothing short of spectacular, earning her two Performance of the Night bonuses in her relatively short tenure with the promotion. These accolades have kept her name prominently in the headlines. If she continues on this upward trajectory, there’s no doubt she’ll become a top contender in no time.”

ROUND ONE: As the roar of the crowd reached a fever pitch for the Featured Prelim bout, Mauro Santos de Lima, the Brazilian powerhouse, entered the octagon to a thunderous ovation. His opponent, the imposing Benjamin Clarke, stood stoically across the cage, unbothered by the hostile environment. The fight began with Clarke pressing forward, using his reach advantage to keep Santos de Lima at bay with crisp jabs and low kicks. Clarke’s strategy was clear: control the distance and avoid the Brazilian’s devastating power. Santos de Lima, however, showed patience, moving laterally and biding his time. Clarke landed a solid right hand that briefly staggered Santos de Lima, drawing gasps from the partisan crowd. Sensing an opportunity, Clarke surged forward with a flurry of strikes, but Santos de Lima deftly slipped under a looping hook and executed a textbook double leg takedown. The prelims have set the bar with some brilliant performances, and now, we’re about to kick it into high gear with a main card lineup that’s guaranteed to set the combat world on fire! From the moment that first bell rings to the sound of the final horn, you best believe that we’re in for a night of pure adrenaline-fueled action!”
BODIE SULLIVAN: “Our stellar Main Card kicks off with a ruthless matchup in the Lightweight Division, featuring former Title Challenger Maddox Moon and former two-time Champion Jordan Parker. This bout promises to be a grappling masterclass, highlighting the profound impact of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in mixed martial arts. Maddox Moon is determined to break a two-fight losing streak, while Jordan Parker seeks to extend his winning streak to three since his return to competition. With both fighters hovering just outside the top five, a victory tonight could propel them into the conversation for title contention. This is a crucial fight with high stakes, setting the tone for an unforgettable evening.”
BYRON McCALL: “Let’s break it down, folks. Both fighters are renowned for their relentless pressure and boast a diverse skill set, particularly in the realm of grappling and submissions. This match up serves as a crucial test for both competitors, marking a significant juncture in their respective careers. Honestly, I feel like it’s a bit of a toss-up. Each fighter is trending in a different direction, and tonight, they collide at this pivotal crossroads. I’m eager to see who establishes their dominance first and how the other will respond. It’s the perfect way to kick off the night.”
BODIE SULLIVAN: “Moving up the card, we have a thrilling Bantamweight clash between two former Title Challengers, as #2 ranked Isabel Azevedo faces off against #4 ranked Eugenie Bombelles in a highly anticipated rematch. Their first encounter was unforgettable, with Azevedo shocking the world by catching Bombelles off guard with a Flying Scissor Heel Hook, securing a then record-setting fifty-six second submission victory. Tonight, Bombelles is undoubtedly prepared to avoid the same fate in what promises to be a classic striker versus grappler match up. This fight is poised to be an intense showdown, with both athletes looking to make a definitive statement in the division.”
BYRON McCALL: “It’s truly going to be a battle of strategy and execution. Azevedo is a technical wizard, known for her precision and fight IQ. Izzi will need to weather the storm, utilizing her footwork to create openings and capitalizing on her strengths on the ground to neutralize her opponent’s striking prowess. Bombelles, on the flip side, is an aggressive Kickboxer, boasting a reputation as one of the most dangerous strikers in the Division. The key to victory for the French phenom lies in asserting her dominance early, maintaining distance, and dictating the pace with her striking arsenal. This match up holds immense significance for both fighters’ championship aspirations, and I anticipate nothing short of fireworks inside the octagon.”
BODIE SULLIVAN: “Next up, we have the Featured Undercard bout in the Middleweight Division, showcasing the ever-dangerous Deebo Briggs against the surging Alexander Sokolov. Briggs, currently the number two ranked Middleweight and a former Ryūjin FC title challenger, is renowned for his knockout power and relentless tenacity. Opposing him is Sokolov, a rising star with a diverse skill set and unyielding determination, sitting just outside the top five in the rankings. This matchup has all the makings of a show-stealer, with both fighters eager to solidify their positions and make a significant impact in their quest for title contention.”
BYRON McCALL: “Deebo Briggs is a force to be reckoned with, there’s no denying that. He’s battled through some absolute wars and has come out on top more often than not. With his wealth of experience and raw power being his biggest assets, Briggs is a tough outing for anyone in the Division. His strategy tonight will likely revolve around applying relentless pressure, turning the bout into an all-out brawl where his strengths shine brightest. However, Alexander Sokolov presents a unique challenge. As a rising prospect, he has been turning heads with his dynamic and unpredictable fighting style. His technical striking and elusive footwork make him a dangerous threat to even the most seasoned competitors. For Sokolov, the path to victory hinges on his ability to evade Briggs’ heavy-handed attacks and chip away at him with precision strikes, gradually wearing him down over the course of the fight. If he can avoid Briggs’ bombs and wear him down, we could see an upset. This fight is a real test of youth versus experience, a potential changing of the guard at hand.”
BODIE SULLIVAN: “And now we venture into the Championship block of the card. First up in the Co-Main Event, we have a high-stakes rematch as Derrius Webb defends his Middleweight Championship against the soaring Venus Sagapolutele. Tonight, Webb has the opportunity to etch his name in the history books, aiming for his fifth successful title defense, which would be the most in the Middleweight Division’s history — and his tenth consecutive victory, which would set a new record in Union GP history. Standing in his way is a determined Venus Sagapolutele, who comes into this bout on a warpath, riding a four-fight win streak and showcasing significant improvements in her game. The question is, will her growth as a complete mixed martial artist be enough to dethrone the reigning champion and usher in a new era at 185 pounds?”
BYRON McCALL: “And therein lies the million-dollar question. This battle is poised to be a defining moment for both fighters. Yes, Sagapolutele has undoubtedly elevated her game, but let’s not overlook the evolution of Derrius Webb. I’m confident in saying that we’re in for a much more fiercely contested bout compared to their first encounter, which ended in less than three minutes. But let’s be honest here, Webb is a true ace inside the cage, boasting an exceptional fight IQ, remarkable versatility, and a reach advantage that often seems otherworldly. He’s a master of adaptation, capable of adjusting his game plan on the fly to exploit any opponent’s weaknesses. Venus Sagapolutele, though, is a powerhouse armed with an aggressive fighting style and knockout power that can turn the tide of the bout at any moment. She’s undoubtedly going to push Webb to his limits. She’s been gunning for this shot, and she’s hungry to claim the gold. This is going to be a strategic battle with everything on the line, and I can’t wait to see who emerges victorious.”
BODIE SULLIVAN: “And finally, it’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for — the Main Event of the evening! The trilogy bout between two-time reigning Heavyweight Champion ‘Dog Face’ Donnie Calabrese and former Champion ‘Big Vik’ Viktor Volkov promises to be a legendary classic that will shape the future of the sport. Their storied rivalry began at UGP 22, where both fighters returned to the Union GP octagon, and Volkov secured a first-round finish in his Heavyweight debut. Volkov’s journey continued with two title fights against the all-time great Kennard Rozier. Though he fell short in their first encounter, he claimed victory in their second meeting to establish his first successful title defense. Between these bouts, Volkov delivered a Fight of the Year contender against Gauge Lattimore, capturing the title with a split decision win. Meanwhile, Calabrese’s path was equally thrilling. He competed in the Openweight Championship Grand Prix, which of course is now the Ryūjin FC Championship, fought at the inaugural Ryūjin FC event, RFC 1, against the top-ranked pound-for-pound fighter and Bantamweight Champion CC Flynn, and challenged Owen Barnes for the title at UGP 35, though unsuccessfully. The two titans clashed again at UGP LV, where Calabrese evened the score with a dramatic fifth-round TKO to claim the Heavyweight Championship. Now, in this highly anticipated rubber match, Calabrese and Volkov will face off for ACT III, inevitably bringing this historic rivalry to a thrilling conclusion. This is a bout that will not only decide the champion but also cement the legacy of these two extraordinary fighters.”
BYRON McCALL: “Calabrese’s story is something right out of a Hollywood movie. We talk about it all the time, his journey from enduring heartbreaking setbacks in the beginning of his career to reaching the ultimate pinnacle. He is a gritty, hard-nosed blue collar type of fighter known for his resilience and knockout power. He’s a warrior who thrives in the trenches. His ability to take punishment with his granite chin and keep moving forward with his devastating power is incredible. He’s seen it all in the cage and knows how to win. On the other side of the coin, we have Viktor Volkov — a man whose career had been defined for so long by the pursuit of that elusive top spot. Despite facing setbacks and heartbreaks of his own along the way, Volkov has never wavered in his pursuit of greatness. From his days as a Cruiserweight Title Challenger to his struggles in the early stages of his Heavyweight journey, Volkov has faced adversity head-on, eventually overcoming the odds to beat the likes of former decorated champions Kennard Rozier, Owen Barnes, Dax Levandrier, and Gauge Lattimore. Now, he stands on the cusp of glory once again, determined to dethrone Calabrese and claim the ultimate prize. This is a type of guy who’s a technical striker with a significant reach advantage and surgical striking. Volkov is a sniper with his punches – he picks his shots and has the reach to keep someone like Calabrese at bay. The key for Donnie is to close the distance and make it a dirty fight, while Volkov needs to stay on the outside and use his technical prowess to pick apart the Champ. This is the fight everyone’s been waiting for. This is going to be a war, a battle of wills, and it’s the perfect way to cap off a star-studded night of fights.”
BODIE SULLIVAN: “And folks, we’ll be with you every step of the way, breaking down the action and providing you with the best coverage from bell to bell. So, without further ado, let’s toss it over to our very own hype man, the mouthpiece of MMA, Mike Dempsey, who’s standing by, ready to get things started. Ladies and gentlemen…”
“IT’S BOUT TIME!”

ROUND ONE: As the lights dimmed in the Farmasi Arena in Rio de Janeiro, the crowd erupted in anticipation of the Main Card opening Lightweight bout between former Title Challenger Maddox Moon and the former two-time 155-pound Champion Jordan Parker. The first round began with Parker immediately taking the center of the cage, showcasing his seasoned striking skills. He peppered Moon with a series of crisp jabs and low kicks, keeping the former title challenger at bay. Moon, known for his aggressive style and resilience, circled cautiously, looking for openings to exploit. He countered Parker’s jabs with powerful overhand rights, one of which grazed Parker’s temple, causing the crowd to gasp. Midway through the round, Parker began to utilize his superior footwork, cutting angles and landing a sharp left hook that momentarily staggered Moon. Parker pressed forward with a flurry of punches, but Moon’s defense held strong. Moon responded with a well-timed takedown attempt, but Parker’s sprawl was impeccable, showcasing his wrestling acumen. As the round wore on, Parker continued to dictate the pace with a diverse striking arsenal. He mixed in body shots and head kicks, keeping Moon guessing. With thirty seconds left, Moon managed to close the distance and landed a heavy right hand, sending Parker backpedaling. The crowd roared as Moon seized the opportunity, launching a barrage of strikes that had Parker covering up against the cage. However, Parker’s defense was solid, and the round ended with both fighters exchanging heavy blows.
ROUND TWO: The second round began with Moon coming out more aggressively, his confidence boosted by his late success in the first. He pushed the pace, throwing powerful combinations that forced Parker onto the defensive. Moon landed a stiff jab followed by a thudding leg kick that echoed through the arena, and Parker’s leg visibly buckled. Parker, ever the strategist, adapted quickly. He began to use his reach more effectively, keeping Moon at bay with long-range strikes. A particularly well-timed teep kick to the midsection halted Moon’s forward momentum, allowing Parker to regain control of the fight’s rhythm. Around the halfway point, Parker executed a brilliant double leg takedown, catching Moon off guard. The crowd erupted as the fight hit the mat, and Parker quickly transitioned to side control. Moon, though skilled on the ground, struggled to escape Parker’s heavy top pressure. Parker methodically worked to advance his position, and soon, he locked in a tight arm-triangle choke. The crowd watched in hushed tension as Moon fought desperately to escape. His face contorted in pain, but in a display of sheer determination, he managed to create just enough space to breathe, eventually slipping out of the submission. The escape energized Moon, who scrambled back to his feet. With a minute left in the round, he unleashed a ferocious onslaught of punches and elbows, one of which opened a cut above Parker’s left eye. Despite the damage, Parker remained composed, countering with sharp, accurate strikes. The round ended with both fighters trading blows in the center of the octagon, the crowd on their feet, roaring in approval.
ROUND THREE: Entering the third round, both fighters showed signs of wear and tear, but neither was willing to back down. Parker’s cutman had expertly managed his cut, but Moon’s relentless pressure was taking its toll. Moon charged forward, throwing looping hooks and body shots, determined to turn the tide in his favor. Parker, however, continued to showcase his Championship mettle, utilizing slick head movement and counter striking. A pivotal moment came two minutes into the round. Parker landed a beautifully timed spinning back kick to Moon’s midsection, causing Moon to stumble backwards. Parker capitalized, closing the distance and securing a clinch. He delivered a series of brutal knees to Moon’s body and head, each one drawing gasps from the crowd. Moon, demonstrating his incredible toughness, absorbed the punishment and managed to break free. With time running out, Moon went for broke. He lunged forward with a wild overhand right, which Parker expertly ducked under, taking Moon’s back in a fluid motion. Parker wasted no time, locking in a rear naked choke. The arena erupted as it seemed Parker might finish the fight. Moon’s face turned red as he struggled against the choke, the veins in his neck bulging with effort. In a display of unbelievable resilience, Moon clawed at Parker’s grip, slowly peeling his arm away and eventually escaping the submission attempt. With just a minute left, both fighters stood toe-to-toe, exchanging vicious strikes. Moon, bloodied and bruised, landed a solid right hand that snapped Parker’s head back, but Parker answered with a devastating uppercut that nearly dropped Moon. The final seconds saw a wild exchange, with both fighters giving everything they had, the crowd on their feet, screaming in unison.
The final horn sounded, and the arena erupted in applause for the valiant effort of both modern day warriors. The judges’ decision was unanimous: Jordan Parker retained his composure, technical prowess, and strategic superiority to secure the victory. As Parker’s hand was raised in victory, he and Moon embraced, acknowledging the incredible battle they had just waged. The bout was a testament to the heart, skill, and determination of both fighters, leaving the audience in Rio de Janeiro with an unforgettable experience to open the Main Card.

BODIE SULLIVAN: “Welcome back ladies and gentlemen from our break for station identification. We are live here at the sold out Farmasi Arena, riding the high off of a technical masterclass of a Lightweight Bout that opened the Main Card. The spotlight not only on the fighters, but also on the VIPs in the audience, like our very own Lightweight Champion, Sadie Williams!!”
BYRON McCALL: “Absolutely, Bodie! The energy here is absolutely electric tonight, and it’s not just because of the incredible fights. Seeing Sadie Williams in the crowd is a real treat for all the fans. She’s not only a true legend in the sport, but her rise to glory has been an inspiration to so many aspiring fighters. Fans are buzzing with excitement, and you can feel the admiration and respect they have for her. It’s moments like these that make events like this unforgettable.”

ROUND ONE: The roars off the crowd reach deafening volumes, cheering on the Pride of Brazil, Isabel Azevedo. The crowd is not as kind to the Frenchwoman, Eugenie Bombelles, who is met with a chorus of boos. The tension is at an all-time high as the fighters touch gloves to make it official. Azevedo, known for her aggressive style and powerful grappling, starts the round with fierce intensity. She immediately closes the distance, attempting to engage Bombelles in a clinch. Bombelles, aware of Azevedo’s submission prowess from their previous encounter, uses her superior striking to keep Azevedo at bay with crisp jabs and powerful leg kicks. Azevedo lands a hard overhand right, pushing Bombelles towards the cage. She attempts a takedown, but Bombelles displays impressive takedown defense, stuffing the attempt and retaliating with sharp elbows in the clinch. Azevedo manages to secure an inside trip, bringing Bombelles to the mat. The crowd erupts as Azevedo transitions to side control, working to isolate an arm for a potential submission. Bombelles remains calm, using her strength and agility to scramble back to her feet. The round ends with Azevedo pressing forward, landing a few more strikes, but Bombelles’ resilience and striking keep her in the fight.
ROUND TWO: The second round begins with Bombelles adjusting her strategy, utilizing her kickboxing background to stay at range. She lands a series of snapping leg kicks, visibly affecting Azevedo’s movement. Azevedo, sensing the shift, attempts another takedown but is thwarted by Bombelles’ quick sprawl. Bombelles finds her rhythm, connecting with a swift combination that forces Azevedo to backpedal. A powerful body kick lands, doubling Azevedo over momentarily. Sensing an opportunity, Bombelles pours on the pressure with a barrage of punches. Azevedo’s toughness shines through as she weathers the storm and fires back with a looping hook that catches Bombelles off guard. The crowd is on their feet as Azevedo secures a single leg takedown, dragging Bombelles to the canvas. She works quickly to advance her position, but Bombelles’ defensive grappling has noticeably improved. Bombelles ties up Azevedo in her guard, minimizing damage and frustrating the Brazilian. The round ends with Azevedo landing short elbows from the top, but Bombelles’ effective striking earlier in the round will likely sway the judges in her favor.
ROUND THREE: The final round starts with both fighters showing signs of wear but no lack of determination. Azevedo, knowing she needs a decisive round, charges forward with renewed vigor. She ducks under a punch and secures a double leg takedown, driving Bombelles into the mat. The crowd roars as Azevedo passes to half guard and starts working for a kimura. Bombelles grimaces but uses her flexibility to escape the submission attempt, reversing the position and ending up in Azevedo’s guard. Bombelles stands up, opting to let Azevedo back to her feet, knowing her striking advantage will be the key to victory. Azevedo, with the crowd behind her, pushes forward aggressively, landing a stiff jab followed by a low kick. Bombelles counters with a brutal right cross that staggers Azevedo. Bombelles capitalizes, throwing a high kick that partially lands, sending Azevedo reeling. In the final minute, Azevedo digs deep, securing a body lock and executing a beautiful trip takedown. She moves to mount, raining down punches as the crowd erupts. Bombelles bucks and rolls, managing to survive the onslaught until the final horn.
The fighters embrace, acknowledging the hard fought battle. After getting checked up by the Ringside Physicians and meeting back in the center of the octagon, the judges’ scorecards read: a controversial split decision victory for Eugenie Bombelles. The volatile Brazilian crowd rained down boos, obviously contesting the verdict. Nevertheless, Bombelles raises her hand in triumph, while Azevedo acknowledges the support of her home crowd and with great sportsmanship, she embraces Bombelles for the tough battle, making both better fighters in the end.

We’ve got a lot of action still to come as we draw nearer to the Featured Undercard bout between Deebo Briggs and Alexander Sokolov, but before we do, we have some pro wrestling icons in the building that we’d like to give a shout out. The newly crowned Black Market Tag Team Champions Ethan Giles and Raphael Dallins are here, as well as Owen Gonsalves and Josh Kennedy! I gotta say, B-Mac, these four gentlemen, or should I say Good Men, have something big brewing as a unit in the professional wrestling scene.”

Ethan Giles and Raphael Dallins, the newly crowned Black Market Tag Team Champions, are known for their high-octane energy and remarkable chemistry in the ring. Sokolov uses his footwork to stay out of range, peppering Briggs with crisp, precise kicks to the body and legs. Briggs, undeterred, stalks forward, looking to land another fight-altering punch. Midway through the round, Sokolov seizes an opportunity as Briggs overextends on a right hook. Sokolov ducks under and shoots for a takedown, securing it with a textbook double leg. The arena roars with excitement as Sokolov transitions to side control. Briggs struggles to his feet, but Sokolov swiftly takes his back, looking to sink in a rear-naked choke. Briggs’ power allows him to escape, but Sokolov retains top control, working diligently with ground and pound. The momentum shift is evident. Sokolov showcases his grappling prowess, controlling Briggs and landing effective strikes from the top. Briggs manages to scramble to his feet in the final minute, but the round clearly belongs to Sokolov. The Russian’s strategic acumen and adaptability shine through, setting up a thrilling final round.
ROUND THREE: With the bout hanging in the balance, the final round begins with both fighters knowing the stakes. Briggs, visibly fatigued but determined, resumes his aggressive approach. Sokolov, now brimming with confidence, meets him head-on. The two warriors exchange a flurry of strikes in the center of the octagon, much to the delight of the roaring crowd. Briggs lands a thunderous right hook that opens a cut above Sokolov’s left eye. Sokolov is unfazed and retaliates with a spinning back kick that connects flush to Briggs’ midsection, drawing a pained expression. Sokolov seizes the moment, pressing forward with a series of jabs and low kicks that zaps Briggs’ energy. At the three-minute mark, Sokolov executes a brilliant trip takedown, landing in half guard. He methodically works to advance his position, all the while peppering Briggs with elbows and punches. Briggs, showing immense heart, fights back, attempting to sweep and regain his footing. BODIE SULLIVAN: “And we’re back! Before the action unfolds in the octagon for our Middleweight Championship Co-Main Event, let’s not forget the star-studded crowd. As we get a glimpse of the VIP section, we’ve got one in particular that has got the crowd buzzing, the reigning Ryūjin FC Champion himself, “The Buzzsaw” Zion Momo’a! It’s been a while since we’ve seen him in any capacity, and there have been all kinds of rumors swirling all around him. We don’t need to elaborate on rumor and innuendo, but it’s just great to see a future Hall of Famer enjoying the action.”
BYRON McCALL: “Seeing Zion Momo’a here tonight is a real treat for the fans here in attendance and those watching at home. Hearing the response he’s received from the crowd is indicative to his status in the sport. Zion is a phenomenal athlete with an unmatched work ethic and an incredible fight IQ. You know, Zion has always been a student of the game, constantly evolving and adapting his style. Whether he’s watching from the sidelines or inside the cage, he’s always absorbing information, and that’s part of what makes him such a dangerous competitor. His influence on the sport and his ability to inspire the next generation of fighters cannot be overstated. It’s fantastic to see him enjoying the action, and who knows, maybe his presence here is a sign of things to come. But for now, let’s turn our focus back on the incredible match-up we have ahead of us because it’s definitely going to be a fight to remember!”

The air in the packed Farmasi Arena is vibrating from the excitement and anticipation of the crowd. The lights dim, casting a suspenseful energy across the audience. As the opening beats of “Big Bad Lady” by Lady of Rage boom through the sound system, the crowd erupts in cheers and applause. Venus Sagapolutele emerges from the shadows, her imposing frame commanding attention. Clad in her BST Fightwear gear, she moves with the confidence of a seasoned warrior, her eyes focused and fierce.
The audience feels the weight of her presence in her every step. The large screens above flash highlights of her previous knockouts and victories, adding to the hype. True to her persona, Venus doesn’t indulge in theatrics. She strides purposefully toward the cage, her focus unwavering. The crowd’s roars grow louder as she passes, but she remains in her zone, mentally preparing for the war ahead.
BODIE SULLIVAN: “Ladies and gentlemen, we are back in action, ready to kickoff the Championship block of the night, starting with our Middleweight Championship Co-Main Event! Making the walk now is Venus Sagapolutele, a fighter who has been firing on all cylinders as of late, winning her last four fights. Despite a few setbacks early in her Union GP tenure, one of which includes a first round TKO loss to Derrius Webb, Venus has bounced back stronger than ever, showcasing her much improved striking, endurance, and mentality. Growing up in a family of professional wrestlers and being the only girl amongst her five brothers, she’s no stranger to the fight game. Her resilience and toughness was molded early in life and it carried her through some tough bouts, and ultimately this shot at undisputed gold tonight. This rematch is monumental, as it represents her chance to claim the Middleweight Championship and pull off one of the biggest upsets in Union Grand Prix history.”
BYRON McCALL: “There’s no question Venus Sagapolutele has proven herself to be a force in the Middleweight Divisions and deserving of this opportunity. She is an exceptional kickboxer with a devastating array of awkward striking that can change the momentum of a fight in an instant. As you mentioned, Bodie, she’s coming off a string of impressive victories, building that momentum, most notably in her last outing with a spectacular third round finish over former Everest MMA SZN 3 Welterweight Champion Kian De Beer. Venus’ journey to tonight’s big fight is indicative to her relentless work ethic and passion for the sport, but let’s not sugarcoat it. Tonight, she faces the biggest challenge of her career in Derrius Webb, a man who already has a win over her. I will say this, though, if anyone is prepared to rise to the occasion, to shock the world, it’s Venus Sagapolutele. This is going to be a clash of titans, and I can’t wait to see how it unfolds!”
Upon reaching the cageside area, Venus pauses momentarily, taking a deep breath. She calmly removes her BST Fightwear warm ups, handing it off to a cornerman before bumping the fist of every teammate around her. She then turns to the inspection official and the cutman goes to work, carefully placing vaseline across each brow, then rubbing it into her cheeks, nose and forehead area. The cutman then nods to Venus, giving her the greenlight.
She then enters the octagon with the grace and power of a natural born fighter, ready to prove herself once again. The music fades, but the intensity remains. Venus paces within the cage, her eyes scanning her surroundings, mentally mapping out her strategy. The crowd’s energy surges, knowing they are about to witness a fighter hellbent on redemption in action.

♫
As the lyrics of “Superhero (Heroes and Villains)” by Metro Boomin, Future, and Chris Brown boom through the loudspeakers, the lights burst forth, illuminating the arena with a blinding radiance. All eyes are locked on the figure emerging from the depths of the backstage area, casting an ethereal glow on his every move. Derrius Webb steps into the spotlight, bathing in the warm embrace of the crowd. The collective roar of the crowd engulfs him, washing away any doubts and fueling the fire within.
With committed eyes fixed solely upon the imposing steel cage positioned at the center of the arena, Derrius showcases a look of unyielding courage etched onto his face. Every muscle in his chiseled frame tenses. Despite the waves of jubilation crashing upon his senses, he remains steadfast.
Derrius marches towards the cage with his entourage of teammates, most notably his trusted head coach Roscoe Robinson, trailing close behind. Their presence, a symbol of camaraderie and unwavering support, stands as a testament to the arduous journey that has led them to this moment.
BODIE SULLIVAN: “By the roaring sounds of the crowd, you know the reigning and defending Middleweight Champion Derrius Webb is making his way to the octagon! Webb has been nothing short of phenomenal in his young career, boasting an impressive 13 fight win streak, dating back to his days in Everest MMA, and a deep archive of highlight reel finishes. As it stands right now, Derrius Webb is tied with Delaney Donovan and Kennard Rozier with the longest win streak in Union GP history at 9 straight wins, but he has the chance to become the sole owner of that distinction tonight and make it 10. He also shares the record for most title defenses in the history of the Middleweight Division with 4 with the likes of Robert Guilliman and Travis Decker, but again, he has the chance to become the lone man at the top with a 5th title defense tonight. What’s most impressive about this man is the fact he’s been able to accomplish all of these incredible feats at a blazing rate. The man is just 23 years of age, he still has so much left in the gas tank, we could be looking at a generational talent.”
BYRON McCALL: “There’s no question about, Bodie. A competitor like Derrius Webb comes around once in a blue moon. He’s someone who has reset the bar of all-time greatness, and the fact that he’s developed into this caliber of fighter at such a young age is astounding. Derrius Webb isn’t just a champion; he’s a true tactician of the sport. His striking is precise and purposeful, and his fight IQ is off the charts. He’s not one to empty the tank for the sake of a flash finish. Webb has faced and overcome the top contenders in the Division, earning multiple Performance of the Night bonuses along the way. Tonight, he faces a familiar challenger in Venus Sagapolutele, who has leveled up tremendously since their first fight. However, Webb thrives under pressure, and his calm demeanor in high-stakes situations further proves his Championship mindset. The moment is never too big for him. His ability to adapt his game plan on the fly and exploit his opponents’ weaknesses has been key to his success. Each title defense has showcased a new layer to his strategic acumen. This fight against Sagapolutele is monumental, not just because of what’s at stake, but because of the legacy Webb is building. A win tonight would further cement his status as not just one of the greatest Middleweights of all-time, but one of the greatest pound-for-pound fighters of all-time.”
Reaching the cageside area, a brief pause ensues, allowing Roscoe to meticulously inspect Derrius’ gloves, ensuring every detail is perfect for the impending war. In this fleeting moment, unspoken words pass between them, a silent exchange of camaraderie and unwavering belief. A fist bump seals their bond, a final gesture of solidarity before the inevitable clash.
Turning away, Derrius confronts the cutman for inspection. An air of intensity envelopes the scene as the cutman meticulously inspects the Champion. With a nod of approval, Derrius meets the stringent standards of the competition.
Taking measured strides, Derrius ascends the steps and steps foot inside the octagon, the boundary that separates him from both glory and peril. Even in this defining moment, he remains fluid, throwing punches and kicks into the empty air, his movements a chorus of controlled power. Time ticks away relentlessly, each passing second amplifying the anticipation that hangs heavy in the atmosphere.
MIKE DEMPSEY: “Ladies and gentlemen, it’s time for the Co-Main Event of the evening! Sanctioned by the Brazilian MMA Athletic Commission, our three judges scoring this contest at cageside are Raul Serra, Davi Salgado, and Luciana Rosa, and when the action begins, our referee in charge in the octagon is Ron Anderson. AND NOW, live from the sold out Farmasi Arena in The Marvelous City — Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, streaming exclusively on the Battleground Network…”
IT’S TIME!
MIKE DEMPSEY: “The following contest is scheduled for five rounds and it is for the Union Grand Prix Middleweight Championship! Introducing first, fighting out of the blue corner, a Kickboxer holding a professional mixed martial arts record of seventeen wins, four losses. She stands 6’ tall, and weighing in at 185 pounds. She is from Los Angeles, California, fighting out of Prodigy 206 — presenting the number one ranked Middleweight Contender in the World, Venus “Fly Trap” Sagapolutele!”
In her corner, bathed in a soft glow cast by a single spotlight overhead, Venus Sagapolutele stood strong and tall. Her jaw clenched with determination while her piercing eyes mirrored the flickering fire in her heart. A bead of sweat danced down her furrowed brow. Sagapolutele stood there, embracing the storm of emotions within her, ready to seize greatness.
MIKE DEMPSEY: “And her opponent, fighting out of the red corner, a Kickboxer holding a professional mixed martial arts record of twenty wins, four losses. He is from Brooklyn, New York, fighting out of the Hit Squad — presenting the former three-time Everest MMA Welterweight Champion and THE REIGNING, DEFENDING, UNDISPUTED Union Grand Prix Middleweight Champion of the World, Derrius “Spyda” Webb!”
Fueled by adrenaline, Derrius Webb paces in his corner, a flurry of emotions swirling within him. He begins smacking his face, chest, and legs and with each resounding smack against his flesh, he ignites a primal fire, stoking the flames of readiness for the imminent battle ahead. As each second passes, the image of discipline and preparation becomes more and more evident for the reigning Champion.
BODIE SULLIVAN: “The energy in the Farmasi Arena is at an all-time high as we stand on the brink of Championship history! This is the stuff of legends, folks! “
The referee steps to the center of the cage and motions for both fighters to meet. With Mike Dempsey standing behind holding the microphone, referee Ron Anderson gives one final pep talk.
RON ANDERSON: “Alright fighters, we’ve gone over the rules in the back. Protect yourselves at all times, obey my commands, touch gloves if you wish, and let’s have a good, clean fight.”
Both fighters are electrified, brimming with adrenaline. They touch gloves with a swift, tense acknowledgment and retreat to their corners. In their stances, poised for the clash, Ron Anderson makes a final, meticulous check with each fighter, ensuring they’re primed for the imminent battle before calling for the opening bell.
ROUND ONE: The atmosphere in the Farmasi Arena is electric as fans eagerly anticipate the rematch between the reigning Middleweight Champion Derrius Webb and Venus Sagapolutele. Their first bout was a thrilling contest, but tonight, Sagapolutele is determined to avenge her loss. As the fight begins, Webb, known for his exceptional reach and striking accuracy, starts with a series of jabs to keep Sagapolutele at bay. He maintains his distance, circling the octagon with swift footwork. Sagapolutele, however, wastes no time closing the gap, her aggressive style on full display. She charges forward, ducking under Webb’s punches to land a powerful body kick that echoes through the arena. The crowd roars as Sagapolutele presses the attack, utilizing her superior clinch game. She grabs Webb and drives him against the cage, landing sharp knees to his midsection. Webb’s face contorted with pain, but his defense is solid. He uses his strength to break free, pivoting off the cage to reset in the center of the octagon. Webb, visibly more cautious, feints a jab and follows with a devastating right cross that catches Sagapolutele off guard. She stumbles back, and Webb capitalizes with a swift head kick that barely misses as Sagapolutele ducks just in time. She counters with a quick double-leg takedown, slamming Webb to the canvas. On the ground, Sagapolutele works to secure a dominant position, but Webb’s grappling defense holds strong. He uses his legs to create space and quickly scrambles back to his feet, receiving a thunderous applause from the crowd. The round ends with both fighters exchanging fierce strikes until the horn, neither giving an inch.
ROUND TWO: As the second round begins, Webb seems more confident, having weathered Sagapolutele’s early storm. He starts with a series of low kicks, targeting Sagapolutele’s lead leg to slow her down. Each strike lands with precision, drawing winces from Sagapolutele. She responds with a looping overhand right that Webb narrowly avoids. Webb’s strategy becomes clear as he mixes his strikes effectively, keeping Sagapolutele guessing. He lands a crisp combination — a left hook followed by a right uppercut that snaps Sagapolutele’s head back. Sensing an opportunity, Webb pushes forward, but Sagapolutele’s resilience shines through. She plants her feet and throws a powerful right hand that connects, staggering Webb momentarily. The arena erupts as Sagapolutele goes on the offensive, launching a barrage of punches and kicks. Webb is forced to backpedal, his guard high. He absorbs several strikes before catching a kick and using it to take Sagapolutele down. The shift in momentum is noticeable now as Webb moves into side control. On the ground, Webb demonstrates his improved grappling skills. He transitions smoothly to mount, raining down elbows that cut Sagapolutele’s forehead. Blood trickles down her face, but she remains composed, attempting to buck Webb off. Webb, however, maintains his position, showing his experience and strength. Sagapolutele manages to create a scramble, and the fighters get back to their feet. Both are visibly fatigued but determined. Webb unleashes a devastating overhand right that catches Sagapolutele clean on the jaw. She wobbles, her legs giving way. Webb follows up with a flurry of punches, driving Sagapolutele against the cage. The referee watches closely as Sagapolutele’s defenses weaken. Webb lands another right hook that drops her to the canvas. He pounces, delivering unanswered strikes. The referee steps in, waving off the fight, effectively declaring Webb the winner.
The crowd erupts in a mix of cheers and respectful applause for both warriors. Webb raises his arms in victory, his face a mix of triumph and relief. Sagapolutele, though disappointed, receives a standing ovation for her valiant effort. This rematch has lived up to its billing, showcasing the heart, skill, and determination of both fighters. Webb retains his Middleweight Championship, but Sagapolutele’s performance ensures that this rivalry is far from over. After both fighters have been thoroughly inspected by the Ringside Physicians, they meet once again in the center of the octagon for the official announcement.
MIKE DEMPSEY: “Ladies and gentlemen, referee Ron Anderson has called for a stop in this fight at three minutes thirty-eight seconds in the second round, declaring the winner by technical knockout, AAAAAND STIIIIILL the undisputed Union Grand Prix Middleweight Champion of the World, Derrius “Spyda” Webb!”
The crowd explodes into a deafening roar as Webb is triumphantly declared the victor, the coveted title glistening as it’s draped around his waist by Union GP Founder Dante Reed. The arena trembles with excitement. The two warriors, bloodied and bruised, share a moment of profound respect, their handshake a testament to the brutal battle they’ve endured. The crowd at Farmasi Arena is still buzzing from the electrifying bout as the camera pans to the center of the octagon. Derrius Webb, the reigning Middleweight Champion, stands with his arms raised, sweat glistening off his forehead, and a look of triumph on his face. His team surrounds him, their joyous shouts mingling with the deafening applause from the fans. Bodie Sullivan, microphone in hand, steps forward to conduct the post-fight interview.
BODIE SULLIVAN: “Ladies and gentlemen, I’m here with the winner AND STILL Middleweight Champion, Derrius Webb! Derrius, congratulations on a fantastic performance. You came out victorious once again against a very tough and determined opponent in Venus Sagapolutele. How are you feeling right now?”
DERRIUS WEBB: “Feels incredible. Venus is a warrior. I knew she’d bring it tonight. She pushed me to my limits, but I prepared for this. All the hard work, the hours in the gym, it all paid off.”
BODIE SULLIVAN:“You looked very composed throughout the fight, especially when she tried to take you down and clinch early on. What was your game plan coming into this rematch?”
DERRIUS WEBB: “The plan was to use my reach and keep her at a distance with my jabs and kicks. Venus is strong in the clinch and on the ground, so I had to avoid getting trapped there. My team and I worked a lot on my takedown defense and striking combinations. It’s all about staying patient and waiting for the right moment to strike.”
BODIE SULLIVAN: “We saw a great mix of techniques from you tonight — solid striking, effective kicks, and you even managed to get a takedown of your own. Was that part of your strategy to show a more well-rounded game?”
DERRIUS WEBB: “I always want to show that I’m not just a striker. I’ve been working hard on my grappling and ground game. I think it’s important to be a complete fighter, especially when you’re up against someone as versatile as Venus. The takedown was a bit of an opportunity I saw in the moment, and I took it.”
BODIE SULLIVAN:“The turning point seemed to be that overhand right in the second round. Can you walk us through what you saw and how you capitalized on that moment?”
DERRIUS WEBB: “Yeah, I noticed she was starting to slow down a bit. She’s tough, but I saw an opening when she dropped her guard slightly. I threw the overhand right, and it connected clean. From there, it was about staying aggressive and not letting her recover. I knew I had to finish it, and I’m glad I could get it done for the fans here in Rio.”
BODIE SULLIVAN: “The crowd here tonight has been phenomenal. What does it mean to you to defend your title in such an electric atmosphere?”
DERRIUS WEBB: “Man, the energy here is unreal. The fans in Rio are some of the best in the world. Their support gives me that extra push. It’s an honor to fight here and defend my title in front of such passionate people. Thank you, Rio, for the love and support!”
BODIE SULLIVAN: “What’s next for Derrius Webb? Do you have anyone in mind for your next fight, or are you just going to enjoy this victory for now?”
DERRIUS WEBB: “Right now, I’m just going to enjoy this victory with my team and loved ones. We’ll see what the future holds. I’m always ready to take on whoever the bosses put in front of me. I’m here to stay, and I’ll be ready when the time comes.”
BODIE SULLIVAN:“Congratulations again, Derrius. Any final words before I let you go?”
DERRIUS WEBB: “Thank you to everyone who supports me, my coaches, my family, and my fans. You guys are amazing. And to Venus, thank you for a great fight. This sport is all about respect, and she’s got plenty of it from me tonight. Stay tuned, everyone — I’m not done yet!”
BODIE SULLIVAN: “There you have it, folks, give it up for your Middleweight Champion, Derrius Webb!”
As the camera pulls back, the crowd’s cheers fill the arena, and Webb continues to celebrate with his team, soaking it all in, every fiber resonating with the magnitude of the moment. The gleaming Championship belt draping over his shoulder shines like a beacon, a testament to the sacrifices he’s made that brought him to this pinnacle. The fans’ excitement and Webb’s humility create a memorable highlight for the night.

BODIE SULLIVAN: “Ladies and gentlemen, we are back from our break for station identification, and we are just moments away from our Heavyweight Championship Main Event here at the Farmasi Arena! Before we dive into the action one last time, our cameras are catching the who’s who of combat sports. If she’s not competing in the octagon, you can bet she’s in the crowd. It’s none other than the number one ranked pound-for-pound fighter and Bantamweight Champion, “Supastar” CC Flynn!”
BYRON McCALL: “Supa is a true phenom in the world of mixed martial arts. Her presence here tonight just underscores the magnitude of this event. Flynn has dominated the Bantamweight Division with her relentless pace, sharp striking, and let’s be honest, her trash talk. Every time she steps into the octagon, she brings a level of intensity and technical prowess that’s unparalleled. Seeing her here, it’s a reminder of the caliber of talent this sport attracts and the respect she commands across all weight classes. I can’t reveal too much, but I’ve been hearing a lot of talks relating to her next fight. You know whenever she fights, she commands the Main Event slot, so with that in mind, I believe we see her headlining UGP 59 when we return from our July break. I don’t know that as factual, but you can connect the dots.”
BODIE SULLIVAN: “Supa is the kind of relentless fighter who thrives on staying active. Even though she’s not competing tonight, you can bet the house she’ll be on the UGP 59 card. She’s so determined to fight that, if needed, she’d find a taxi cab driver right here in Brazil to step into the cage with her! With that said, folks, let’s not waste any more time. I can see the crowd here is buzzing with excitement, and I know our viewers at home are eagerly waiting. So let’s toss it back to the action one final time!”

The lights in the arena dim to a near blackout, plunging the audience into darkness. Thousands of fans fall to silence, their eyes glued to the tunnel from which the fighters will emerge.
Suddenly, a single spotlight bursts to life, casting its brilliant beam on the entrance. The first haunting notes of “Sgori” by STVORE echoes through the Farmasi Arena, an ominous and electrifying melody that sends chills down the spines of those in attendance. The song’s deep, primal rhythms build slowly into a powerful anthem that heralds the arrival of a true modern day warrior.
As the music swells, a figure steps into the light. It is none other than former Heavyweight Champion Viktor Volkov. Draped in his signature red and gold BST Fightwear warm ups, his towering frame commands attention. His face, shadowed beneath the hood of his warm ups, reveals a steely focus, eyes locked forward with the intensity of a predator on the hunt.
The crowd erupts into cheers and roars, the energy in the arena reaching a fever pitch. Chants of “Big Vik! Big Vik!” echo through the venue, a testament to the adoration and respect he has garnered over his illustrious career. Volkov begins his walk, each step measured and purposeful, exuding an aura of unshakeable confidence. The cameras capture his every move, broadcasting his stoic march to millions around the world.
BODIE SULLIVAN: “When you think of what perseverance means, there’s no better person that embodies that term more than Viktor Volkov. For so long, this man’s MMA career was defined as being a perpetual runner-up. It all started during his tenure as a Cruiserweight Contender in Union GP, falling short of glory to Hall of Fame legend Roscoe Robinson. Similarly, his run as a Heavyweight mirrored his first stint, falling short to the likes of Kennard Rozier for the undisputed Heavyweight Title as well as Gauge Lattimore for the interim Title. However, Viktor Volkov persisted and eventually broke through that glass ceiling, capturing the undisputed title against Lattimore and defending it against Rozier. Now, Volkov looks to reclaim his place at the top of the division once again, against a man who he has become very familiar with.”
BYRON McCALL: “Viktor Volkov’s journey is a testament to sheer will and determination. When you look back on his career, you see a fighter who has faced some of the toughest competitors in Union GP history. Falling short against legends like Roscoe Robinson, Kennard Rozier, and Gauge Lattimore could have broken many fighters, but not Volkov. His ability to learn from those losses and come back stronger is what separates him from the rest of the pack. In terms of technique, Volkov is a master of adapting his strategy mid-fight. His striking is precise, and he has a keen sense of timing, which we saw in his victories against Gauge Lattimore and Kennard Rozier. But what really stands out is his mental toughness. He’s been in those deep waters, and he knows how to navigate them. As he looks to reclaim his title tonight, Volkov’s familiarity with his opponent will be a significant factor. He knows what it takes to win at the highest level, and his experience against top-tier fighters has honed his skills to a fine edge. Fans should expect a strategic battle where Volkov’s resilience and tactical adjustments will be crucial. It’s going to be a fascinating match-up, and I can’t wait to see how it unfolds.”
As he strides towards the octagon, the spotlight follows, casting an elongated shadow that seems to stretch endlessly, a symbolic prelude to the battle that awaits. His team flanks him, a tight-knit group of seasoned trainers and cornermen, each one mirroring his unwavering determination.
Volkov calmly removes his BST Fightwear gear, handing it off to a cornerman before bumping the fist of every teammate around him. Eventually his head coach steps up in front of him, squirting some water in Volkov’s mouth before handing him his black mouth guard, adorned with the image of the grim reaper. The big Russian pops it into his mouth before the cutman goes to work, carefully placing vaseline across each brow, then rubbing it into his cheeks, nose and forehead area. The cutman then nods to Volkov, who turns, brushing by him as he makes his way up the steps and into the cage. Vik takes a quick lap around the cage, breaking into a light jog before he settles back into his corner, intimidatingly beginning to pace back and forth as his music slowly dies down.
He exchanges a final word with his corner, their voices lost in the thunderous crowd, but the bond and understanding between them is clear. The crowd’s response is seismic, a statement to the legacy of the man standing before them. Volkov’s gaze never wavers, his focus unbroken. The moment is here. The walkout was only the beginning. Now, it’s time for the fight, and “Big Vik” is ready to reclaim his throne.

The tension in the arena has reached a fever pitch. The lights dim back down, the crowd hushes, and suddenly, the booming beat of “Bando Commando” by Yavid reverberates through the venue, signaling the arrival of the one and only “Dog Face” Donnie Calabrese.
As the music builds, the screens around the arena light up with highlights of Calabrese’s greatest knockouts. The imagery is raw and brutal, a perfect match for the grimacing, relentless persona of the two-time Champion. The camera cuts to the entrance tunnel, where fog machines spew thick clouds, obscuring the view.
Through the haze, a silhouette emerges. It’s Dog Face, his massive frame outlined against the bright lights. His head is down, hood up, and his stride is methodical, purposeful. With each step, the crowd’s roar intensifies, a wave of cheers crashing over the arena. His theme song’s powerful lyrics and aggressive beats sync perfectly with his deliberate march, creating an almost primal connection between the fighter and the audience.
Flanked by his entourage, Donnie Calabrese steps into the spotlight, and the audience can see the intensity in his eyes, the focus etched on his rugged face. The Champ wears a custom BST Fightwear robe, emblazoned with his moniker and an imposing graphic of a snarling dog, teeth bared, muscles rippling.
As he makes his way to the cage, he slaps hands with fans, but his eyes never leave the octagon. This is his territory, and he’s here to defend it with every ounce of his being.
BODIE SULLIVAN: “And with the final walkout of the night, here comes the reigning and defending Heavyweight Champion of the World, “Dog Face” Donnie Calabrese! This is a fighter who has truly seen and done it all, and perhaps most importantly, endured it all. We all know the origin story — from headlining UGP 1 in his hometown of Chicago to becoming an international combat sports icon. Now, here he is at UGP 58 in Rio, a two-time Champion on a remarkable six-fight win streak. Donnie Calabrese’s name is etched throughout the record books: most Union GP career wins with 18, most knockouts with 13, and the fastest knockout at just 19 seconds. Despite these remarkable accolades, Calabrese believes there is still unfinished business, and he shows no signs of slowing down.”
BYRON McCALL: “No question, Bodie. The fact he’s still hungry for more after all he’s done is amazing. Donnie Calabrese is a living legend, and every time he steps into the cage, we’re witnessing history in the making. His ability to continuously stay at the top of the division through nearly SIXTY Supercards can be attributed to his resilience and evolution as a fighter. What really stands out to me about Calabrese is his ability to adapt and reinvent himself, keeping his game fresh and unpredictable. That six-fight win streak you mentioned is no fluke; it’s the result of meticulous preparation, an iron will, and an uncanny ability to read his opponents. Tonight, he’s not just defending his title, he’s reinforcing his legacy, and it’s going to be thrilling to see how he approaches this challenge. Keep an eye on his footwork and timing; those are often the keys to his devastating knockout power. This is a fighter who knows exactly what it takes to win and isn’t afraid to dig deep to get there.”
As he reaches the octagon, he pauses for a moment, taking in the atmosphere, feeling the energy of the crowd. He removes his robe, revealing his hulking physique. The Championship belt gleams around his waist, a symbol of his supremacy in the division. He hands the title off to the nearest official and dabs up all of his cornermen. Donnie then turns to the inspection official, where his face is greased and equipment examined.
Once he’s been cleared, Donnie climbs the steps to the cage, his expression is one of stoic determination. He steps through the door, entering the octagon with the confidence of a gladiator who knows he’s about to go to war. The music fades, but the crowd’s enthusiasm does not. Inside the octagon, he paces back and forth, like a caged beast ready to be unleashed. His coaches whisper last-minute strategies, but it’s clear Calabrese is already in the zone, mentally preparing to defend his title.
As the cage door locks behind him, a silence falls, punctuated only by the thumping of thousands of hearts. The anticipation has reached a boiling point. The battle is about to begin. And in this moment, under the bright lights and amidst the roaring crowd, Donnie Calabrese is ready to add another chapter to his storied legacy.
MIKE DEMPSEY: “Ladies and gentlemen, it’s time for the Main Event of the evening! Sanctioned by the Brazilian MMA Athletic Commission, our three judges scoring this contest at cageside are Raul Serra, Davi Salgado, and Luciana Rosa, and when the action begins, our referee in charge in the octagon is Archie Driscoll. AND NOW, this is the moment you’ve all been waiting for! Live from the sold out Farmasi Arena in The Marvelous City — Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, streaming exclusively on the Battleground Network…”
IT’S TIME!
MIKE DEMPSEY: “The following contest is scheduled for five rounds and it is for the Union Grand Prix Heavyweight Championship! Introducing first, fighting out of the blue corner, a Boxer holding a professional mixed martial arts record of sixteen wins, seven losses. He stands 6’5” tall, and weighing in at 247.5 pounds. He is from St. Petersburg, Russia, fighting out of the Volkov Fighting Institute — presenting the former Union Grand Prix Heavyweight Champion and the number one ranked Heavyweight Contender in the World, “Big Vik” Viktor Volkov!”
The atmosphere in the arena was electric, charged with the energy of thousands of passionate fans eagerly awaiting the Championship Main Event. Amidst the sea of cheering spectators, the dimming lights cast dramatic shadows that danced across Volkov’s chiseled physique, highlighting the power and intensity that radiated from his presence. Volkov raised his fists high, and the crowd responded in kind, their cheers echoing off the walls. With a final nod to the crowd, Volkov’s focus narrowed, his gaze locked on his familiar opponent across the cage.
MIKE DEMPSEY: “And his opponent, fighting out of the red corner, a Boxer holding a professional mixed martial arts record of twenty-one wins, ten losses. He stands 6’1” tall, and weighing in at 265 pounds. He is from Chicago, Illinois, fighting out of the Hit Squad — presenting THE REIGNING, DEFENDING, UNDISPUTED Union Grand Prix Heavyweight Champion of the World, “Dog Face” Donnie Calabrese!”
The arena vibrates with the crowd’s thunderous cheers. In his corner, Donnie Calabrese paces with purpose, a controlled intensity evident in every movement. His eyes, burning with determination, scan the arena, absorbing the energy of the crowd. Donnie’s fists clench and unclench rhythmically, the muscles in his arms bulging. He exudes an aura of restrained aggression. With a primal roar, he smashes his fists together, the sound echoing through the arena like a thunderclap. In that moment, he resembles a ferocious pitbull, ready to attack.
BODIE SULLIVAN: “Ladies and gentlemen, with the third and potentially final act in this rivalry, history is up for grabs!”
With Mike Dempsey standing behind holding the microphone, the referee calls them to the center for final instructions, the atmosphere is electric, every eye in the arena and beyond fixated on these two fighters.
ARCHIE DRISCOLL: “Alright gentlemen, we’ve gone over the rules in the back — I trust there are no questions. Protect yourselves at all times, follow my instructions, and keep it clean. Touch gloves if you wish, and let’s have a competitive fight.”
Both fighters are on the brink of exploding with adrenaline. With barely a moment’s pause, they slam their gloves together and swiftly retreat to their corners. The air is electric, every second charged with anticipation. As they lock into their stances, Archie Driscoll methodically checks in with each fighter one final time, ensuring they are primed and ready for the brutal clash that awaits.
ROUND ONE: The atmosphere inside the Farmasi Arena is buzzing, with the entire crowd in Rio de Janeiro on their feet for the Heavyweight Championship Main Event bout. The reigning champion Donnie Calabrese, with his commanding presence, paces back and forth with the confidence of a man who has been here before. Viktor Volkov, the former champion looking to reclaim his throne, never loses sight with his intense gaze locked onto Calabrese. The opening bell rings, and the trilogy fight is underway. Volkov, known for his explosive striking and aggressive style, comes out fast, throwing a flurry of jabs and low kicks to test Calabrese’s defenses. Calabrese, however, remains calm, utilizing his superior head movement and footwork to evade most of Volkov’s early offense. The champion’s strategy is clear: stay patient and look for openings. Midway through the round, Volkov lands a solid right hook that briefly staggers Calabrese, igniting the crowd. Sensing an opportunity, Volkov pushes forward with a combination of hooks and uppercuts. Calabrese covers up, absorbing some of the blows while cleverly slipping others. He counters with a powerful right cross that halts Volkov’s momentum, showcasing his dangerous counter-punching ability. As the round progresses, Calabrese starts to find his rhythm, landing a stiff jab that snaps Volkov’s head back. He follows up with a swift leg kick, buckling Volkov’s lead leg slightly. Volkov responds with a spinning back kick that narrowly misses Calabrese’s midsection. The exchange is a clear indication of the high-level striking both fighters possess. In the final minute, Volkov attempts a takedown, but Calabrese’s wrestling prowess comes into play. He stuffs the attempt and reverses it, pinning Volkov against the cage. Calabrese unloads a barrage of short elbows to the head and knees to the body, causing visible damage to Volkov’s face and midsection. The round ends with Calabrese in control, the crowd on their feet cheering wildly.
ROUND TWO: As the second round begins, Volkov’s corner urges him to keep the pressure on and avoid getting drawn into Calabrese’s counter-punching game. Volkov obliges, starting the round aggressively once again. He connects with a crisp one-two combination followed by a body kick that echoes through the arena. Calabrese absorbs the shots, his face showing obvious signs of distress. Calabrese then decides to shift his strategy. He begins to press forward, using his jab to keep Volkov at bay while setting up his powerful right hand. Volkov attempts another spinning back kick, but Calabrese catches it and counters with a straight right that sends Volkov reeling backward. Sensing blood, Calabrese moves in with calculated aggression. He lands a devastating left hook to the body, followed by a right uppercut that snaps Volkov’s head back. Volkov is in trouble, but he fights back valiantly, throwing wild hooks to fend off the Champion. The two engage in a brutal exchange in the center of the octagon, each landing significant strikes. In a pivotal moment, Calabrese ducks under a wild overhand right from Volkov and shoots for a double-leg takedown. He secures it with authority, slamming Volkov to the canvas. Calabrese quickly transitions to side control, methodically working his ground-and-pound. Volkov struggles to defend, his face bloodied from the relentless elbows and punches raining down on him. With the crowd roaring, Calabrese postures up and lands a thunderous elbow that visibly rocks Volkov. Calabrese then decides to stand up, allowing Volkov to rise to his feet. As Volkov gets up, Calabrese delivers a perfectly timed right cross, followed by a left hook that connects flush on Volkov’s jaw. Volkov crumples to the canvas, and the referee swiftly steps in to stop the fight. The crowd erupts as Calabrese raises his arms in victory, having successfully defended his title with another stunning knockout.
Calabrese embraces his cornermen over the top of the fence in celebration as the crowd explodes into a thunderous roar. Ringside Physicians rush into the octagon, their faces etched with urgency as they attend to Volkov. Moments later, Volkov, steadied and resilient, stands tall once more. The physicians exit, and the fighters, drenched in blood and sweat, converge at the center of the octagon for the official announcement of the winner.

The atmosphere inside the Farmasi Arena is still buzzing, the Brazilian crowd still roaring from the exhilarating Heavyweight clash they just witnessed. Donnie Calabrese, the reigning Champion, stands in the center of the octagon, his face a mix of relief and triumph. Sweat glistens on his brow as he catches his breath, a broad smile spreading across his face. The arena lights cast a spotlight on him, emphasizing the gladiatorial aura of the moment. Bodie Sullivan steps forward with a microphone, ready to capture the Champion’s thoughts in the immediate aftermath.
BODIE SULLIVAN: “Ladies and gentlemen, I’m here with the winner AND STILL Heavyweight Champion, Donnie Calabrese! Donnie, what a performance! You’ve just knocked out Viktor Volkov in the second round to put an emphatic end to your storied rivalry. Tell me, how are you feeling right now at this moment?”
DONNIE CALABRESE: “Man, it feels incredible, Bodie. First off, hats off to Big Vik. He’s a tough, tough dude and gave me one hell of a fight. He’s pushed me to be better every single day. But right now? I feel on top of the world! This is what it’s all about.”
The crowd erupts in cheers, their adoration for Calabrese is evident. Donnie takes a moment to soak it all in, raising his arms to acknowledge the fans.
BODIE SULLIVAN: “This was the third time you and Viktor Volkov have squared off, each of you with a win going into tonight. What was your strategy coming into this fight, knowing what a dangerous opponent he is?”
DONNIE CALABRESE: “We’ve spent a lot of cage time together, so we knew each other’s tendencies, strengths, and all that. We knew he’d come out aggressive, so the plan was to stay patient, use my head movement, and wait for the openings. We knew he had the reach advantage, so my team and I worked a lot on counter-punching and mixing up the attack. When I saw those opportunities, especially with the takedown, I took them. And man, it paid off tonight.”
The camera pans to Calabrese’s corner, where his team is celebrating.
BODIE SULLIVAN: “That knockout was a thing of beauty. You caught him with a clean right cross and followed it up perfectly. Walk us through that moment.”
DONNIE CALABRESE: “Well, I saw him getting a little wild with his punches, and when he threw that overhand right, I knew it was my chance. I ducked under, went for the double-leg to change things up, and when he got back up, I knew he was vulnerable. That right cross, followed by the left hook, it felt like everything slowed down for a second. I just let my training take over.”
BODIE SULLIVAN: “You’ve now solidified your place as the undisputed champion, with your first title defense in your second reign. What’s next for you, Donnie? Do you have anyone in mind for your next fight?”
DONNIE CALABRESE: “You know, right now I just want to enjoy this moment. Celebrate with my team and family. But I’m always ready for the next challenge. Whoever the Union Grand Prix brass puts in front of me, I’ll be ready. There’s a new wave of talent coming up and I’m ready to take them all head on! I’ll be back in the gym soon, getting better every day. And to the Mob Squad, thank you for your support, you guys are the best!”
BODIE SULLIVAN: “Donnie, congratulations once again on an amazing victory. Enjoy the celebration, champ!”
DONNIE CALABRESE: “Thank you, Bodie. And thank you, Rio! You guys are amazing!”
BODIE SULLIVAN: “There you have it, ladies and gentlemen! Give it up one last time for the Heavyweight Champion of the World, “Dog Face” Donnie Calabrese!”
Calabrese waves to the crowd, his Championship belt gleaming under the arena lights. The energy in the Farmasi Arena is electric, the fans chanting his name as he exits the octagon, the reigning champion once again proving why he holds the title. As the camera pans out, the shot captures the pandemonium inside the arena, a wave of camera flashes illuminate the building as the feed gradually fades away. The Battleground Network emblem blazed across the screen as the final graphic, bringing the night’s live stream to an end.
