BACKSTORY
Joaquin Reinoso learned movement before he learned discipline. A former breakdancer in San Juan’s underground club scene, his footwork and fast twitch reflexes drew the attention of a local kickboxing coach who convinced him to try combat sports at 17. Reinoso rose quickly through Puerto Rico’s small but vibrant circuit, making highlight reels with spinning kicks and explosive finishes. But as he moved stateside for MMA, gaps in his wrestling and cardio were exposed. Humble and self aware, Joaquin moved to Florida afterward to train with high level wrestlers, determined to round out his arsenal. Inside the cage he’s still flashy, still electric, but now he’s learning patience, the hardest skill for someone who built his identity on speed.
