BACKSTORY
A troubled girl from a young age, Marcela has a laundry list of things she’d like to go back in time and change. Growing up poor even by the standards of the poor neighborhood she lived in, she was the second child born to her family and would describe her early life as “doing what she had to do survive;” in many occasions, those things weren’t legal, leading to Marcela having a pretty significant delinquent record as a child. She keeps quiet about most of this, but it’s public record that Marcela was in a juvenile detention center in her teenage years.

A violent temper, mixed with impulse control issues, led Marcela to several unwanted, unnecessary confrontations, eventually leading her to seek out self-defense courses, and through them, discovering martial arts thru LIFE MMA. Once she was legally able to, she started taking as many professional fights as she could–partly to help provide for her family, partly to keep her more violent tendencies in check.

Her record in Brazil is largely unconfirmed, but she’s claimed a record of 37-15-3 between Muay Thai and MMA bouts; what is confirmed is, at some point in her career, she was discovered by the Chute Boxe Academy in Sao Paulo, and was given everything she needed to move south. Chute Boxe would refine her striking ability in particular, and turn her from a wild brawler into an aggressive mauler. She got her nickname from one of her trainers, who said she fought like she was “possessed by a war god.”
