EVENT NOTES
The second edition of DRIP is a smaller lineup, but it’s action-packed nonetheless. There were a lot of contracts offered in the first installment, but with the condensed card tonight, you get the sense that an impressive win is a must.
There were some notable faces in the crowd, particularly the owner of one of the newest camps on the major scene. Lightweight Champion Delaney Donovan was there to support two prospects coming out of Kratos Combat Sports, his newest training camp. Also in attendance was Heavyweight Champion Owen Barnes supporting his Twin Cities teammate Noah Vanderkaay, and Lightweight contender Benji Meyers, a fighter who earned a contract at the inaugural DRIP event who’s here to support fellow Prodigy 206 teammate Venus Sagapolutele.
The night started off with two Welterweights who are on the fringe of even being on the radar of the Head Honchos of Dante, Perry, and Cass. However, Doran Fields and Ricky Jackson set the tone with a thriller that ended with an amazing Armbar to Triangle choke submission win for Ricky Jackson. From there we saw a dominant Eugenie Bombelles make her U.S. debut and dust up Hannah Carter inside one round. Noah Vanderkaay followed up with a mauling of Chris Simmons, winning the fight by knockout in just forty-nine seconds! This trend continued as Venus Sagapolutele won via KO in the second round, and the Heavyweight Main Event showcased Dominic Donaldson overpowering his opponent en route to a first round knockout victory.
The highlight reel finishes were enough to impress the bosses and each victor earned a contract.
