ONE ON ONE FT. ROBIN KELSON
[Union Grand Prix in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The luxurious city, filled with ancient historical lineage and poshed society welcomed the promotion to host the final event of the year, UGP 62! However, before the fights can uplift the fighting world, a scheduled one-on-one interview for a new signing that has captured the attention of the promotion gets to reveal his intentions with Kayla Chapman. The fans are interested in this one given the high profile of this fighter who has garnered a lot of attention on his own from his crazy antics inside and outside the cage.
The scene opens to a dim-lit setting of two chairs inside an octagonal cage where the UGP logo branded in the center and the UGP 62 poster is on the wall. The live filming of the event shows Kayla Chapman being the first to enter into the fray and taking a seat down with her note cards in hand. Of course, she has the audio team prepared in advance with a small microphone clipped on her shirt. However, another individual joins her and it’s the newest signing, Robin Kelson, who sits down in front of her smiling keenly and folds his arms across his chest to be more relaxed and goofy. Once the camera focuses on the two, Kayla turns to look at the camera beginning the segment.]
KAYLA CHAPMAN: “Welcome ladies and gentlemen to a One-on-One edition for Union GP 62: Dog Face versus Lattimore! We are in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and I am here with the newest signing to the Union Grand Prix! He will be opening the biggest card of the year against Aziz Qasim in a three-round fight in the welterweight division! Ladies and gentlemen, I am here with Robin “The Sweetheart” Kelson!”
[Robin stares at the camera and forms his hands together to create a heart-shaped sign. He then salutes the camera and leans back on the chair ready to answer some questions.]
ROBIN KELSON: “Thank you Kayla! Definitely excited to be here and thanks for having me! I promise not to be too crazy so get used to this type of stuff!”
KAYLA CHAPMAN: “Well, you’ve been making a name for yourself on the local scene in Florida. How was your time developing yourself to finally where you are now?”
ROBIN KELSON: “It really was interesting. I’ve been into martial arts, more so to grappling and wrestling since I was a young kid. I love wrestling, all types of forms and jiu-jitsu. Once I started training in mixed martial arts, I got to really experience the spirit of competition. I had my first fight at eighteen and won and just been exploding on the Florida scene. Even in college, I was focusing on wrestling and MMA. After that, I’ve won some championships in different fight promotions but moved to Houston to test out the stronger waters.”
KAYLA CHAPMAN: “Since moving to Houston, you’ve become a permanent member of the training camp, the Holmes MMA and Wrestling Academy, who have other fighters here such as Verona Jimenez and Serenity Holmes. How has that been in the development of your training regime?”
[Robin lifted up a knee on the seat and held it close to chest as he leaned his head back.]
ROBIN KELSON: “Man! The gym is no joke! They’re really pushing on making an impact with the new generation of fighters. I’ve never been inside a training camp that really works with the fighters and athletes. Ever since joining, I’ve seen the improvement in my grappling but more my striking too. Working alongside the John’s, Andre Holmes, Verona and Serenity, they’ve introduced me to striking concepts I’ve never seen before. I’m becoming stronger, faster and better at everything, which means I’m going to be a maniac inside the cage! I live to entertain and show the audience a good time always!”
KAYLA CHAPMAN: “You’ve always been described as the entertainer by your peers. What makes you someone the audience wants to see inside and outside the cage?”
[Robin chuckles and nods. Kayla also laughs with him.]
ROBIN KELSON: “People always believed that wrestlers and submission specialists are boring, which isn’t true! I love to maul, I love to talk smack and have fun with it. I’m the type of fighter that will always have viral moments and whenever I get the finish, people will save it on their social media. MMA is fun and it’s thrilling! You have to give the audience something to enjoy and that’s what I do every time! Hence why the opening bout for UGP 62 will set the pace because the audience will want to see chaos and madness all in one!”
[Kayla nods, impressed with the answer.]
KAYLA CHAPMAN: “Now, as you mentioned, UGP 62 is going to be in The Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. You’re going to be opening the show against Aziz Qasim. What do you think about your debut against him?”
[Robin shrugs his shoulders and slumps in the chair.]
ROBIN KELSON: “Aziz Qasim is a Muay Thai fighter who has grappling experience. I like fighting against strikers, especially kickboxers and Muay Thai fighters because they throw kicks a lot and I can take them down and just do my work. I’m expecting Aziz to come with everything he’s got but like I said, this is my debut and my first impression to leave with the UGP fans!”
KAYLA CHAPMAN: “And what will that impression be?”
ROBIN KELSON: “I’m going to do whatever I want. Ground and pound, submission, maul him, make it a spectacle. Just know that I will make the fans want more, laugh, cheer and put on a performance that will for sure earn me performance of the night! Dante, get that check ready for me bro!”
[The answer really got into Kayla’s positive spirit. She was loving the flair and personality Robin showed in the interview. Almost reaching the end of the segment, she looked at the camera.]
KAYLA CHAPMAN: “Ladies and gentlemen, you heard it here yourself! Be sure to watch UGP 62: Dog Face vs. Lattimore in The Kingdom Arena here in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia this Sunday! Robin, anything you want to say?”
ROBIN KELSON: “Yeah, bet on me! Make sure to watch me show you what an entertainer does! Thank you Kayla and see you guys this Sunday!”
[Robin stands up on the chair and does a little dance before chuckling. Kayla stands up, laughing at his goofy personality and shakes his hand. When Kayla leaves, Robin throws a peace sign at the camera and the segment transitions into a promotional package for UGP 62!]
