ONE ON ONE FT. ROBIN KELSON

[The Sphere of Las Vegas, the legendary venue that is so young in its life span, chosen to be the home of UGP 63: MEYERS vs. PARKER. However, the welterweight division will be experiencing a shake up in the rankings as one welterweight fighter is aiming to continue his momentum in not only entertaining the audience but putting on a performance that continues to garner him a lot of attention. After his last victory in Riyadh, the scheduled one on one interview with Kayla Chapman will help give an insight to Robin Kelson’s mentality ahead of his upcoming prelim bout on the card.

The recorded video begins with Kayla Chapman sitting on her chair after being attended to by the production members. She has a secure and upright posture but awaits for Robin who shows up on time and walks through the door inside the small room with a black background highlighting some of the other fights and promotional posters for UGP 63. Robin takes a seat and smiles at Kayla but he is more nonchalant with his positioning rocking some jewelry as well.]

KAYLA CHAPMAN: “Welcome ladies and gentlemen to the one-on-one with Robin Kelson, the 8th ranked welterweight in the Union Grand Prix! Robin, welcome back and so good to have you. I hope everything is going well and it’s a pleasure to speak with you always.”

[Robin winks into the camera and throws up a heart gesture before facing Kayla.]

ROBIN KELSON: “Thank you Kayla! I told you they couldn’t keep me away!”

KAYLA CHAPMAN: “Of course you’ve made quite an impression. You opened Riyadh on UGP 62 and won with a great performance against Aziz Qasim. Now you’re ranked in the top ten immediately in the welterweight division. So what does this mean?”

ROBIN KELSON: “Kayla, I’m making sure I do my job. When I faced Aziz, I had a LOT of fun and I felt the fans behind me. They love that old school mauling and I promise you I’ll continue to do that. I mean, don’t get it twisted, being top ten ranked is fun and I got a little number next to my name but the goal is to be champion. So for now, I’m good with it. It’s a little flex.”

[Kayla chuckles from how goofy Robin can be but appreciates the honesty. Robin leans back on the chair relaxed.]

KAYLA CHAPMAN: “That’s good to hear. Talk us through your development and training with the Holmes MMA and Wrestling Academy. How has aligning with them helped with your improvement as a fighter?”

ROBIN KELSON: “Oh! It’s an amazing experience. The gym is new but it’s growing very fast. We have a lot of fighters there and to be honest, I’m happy to be one of the leading fighters there as well. We have Serenity Holmes, Verona Jimenez, Mason Lambert and even Jordan Parker who will be joining us soon. No matter what, we continue to grow and as far as my development, it’s a wealth of knowledge. It’s a very welcoming environment that pushes you to break your limit and you get to cover every aspect of mixed martial arts.”

KAYLA CHAPMAN: “In your last fight against Aziz Qasim, there was criticism that your striking could use a lot of improvement. You’re more of a wrestling based fighter so since your last fight, have you developed your striking more?”

[Robin takes a moment to show a little shadow boxing which makes Kayla chuckles but he calms down and leans back with his hands behind his head.]

ROBIN KELSON: “Yeah. The peeps say that I need to work on my striking, my boxing, my kicks. We have a lot of elite strikers in our camp that I’m sparring a lot and learning more. Serenity and Verona are powerful strikers, Mason is technical so I’m training with a lot of elite level strikers. Our coaches are so easy to work with so every day I’m improving on the fight. I hate to see the next guy in the cage with me when he understands how fast I’ve come.”

KAYLA CHAPMAN: “Speaking of the next guy, you’re fighting in the prelims of UGP 63 against Alfie O’Shea. He’s the 9th ranked welterweight looking to take your spot and move upwards in the rankings of the welterweight division. What have you done to prepare for this moment?”

ROBIN KELSON: “It’s my second fight in the Union Grand Prix. Alfie’s a great fighter and he’s a wrestler like me. He can strike but I know that in the city of Las Vegas, I can really put on a show so I’m going to maul his ass down. I want to hear the crowd go crazy and it’ll get me fired up. I respect Alfie but he ain’t coming for my spot, nah. We do this my way and if he thinks he can bring me to the ground and try to dominate me, let him believe so but when I maul him down, I’m going to make sure everyone gets their money’s worth.”

[Kayla once again really values his charisma showing and Robin winks to the camera.]

KAYLA CHAPMAN: “The welterweight division is still brand new but has a lot of fighters. You’re at the top of the top 10 which means there’s a lot of options. Is there anyone you have on your radar?”

ROBIN KELSON: “I have a couple of fighters in the top 5 I’m aiming for. I think after this fight, I want to really test myself. Either way, I have to get past O’Shea and I plan on doing so everyone for UGP 63, watch ya boy have another mauling and make sure to follow me on my Instagram!”

[Robin does a peace sign and Kayla laughs knowing it’s time to close it out.]

KAYLA CHAPMAN: “Thank you so much Robin and we’ll be sure that the fans will be tuning in for the prelims of UGP 63: Meyers vs. Parker. Our event is right here in The Sphere of Las Vegas so everyone please get your tickets for an event you do not want to miss!”

[The final view of Kayla and Robin shaking hands with the broadcast transitioning into the promos for UGP 63.]
