STRENGTHS
+ CAST-IRON CHIN: Ana is seemingly unfazed by the majority of strikes to the skull. In order to defeat Zolotova with a strike intended upon knocking her out, an opponent must continuously land flush strikes to the skull to build up damage over time. Punching her in the jaw is like punching a concrete wall; her ability to continue to eat punches and strikes to the skull like they’re nothing affords her regular openings to deliver lethal strikes or Judo/Sambo throws.

+ FIGHTING IN A PHONE BOOTH: Zolotova makes it a regrettable decision for opponents to push within her reach. In close-quarters combat, Ana is unmatched and capable of abruptly striking or utilizing powerful throws to take control with haste. If Zolotova is in control of all of her faculties, it is nearly impossible to enter her personal space without eating an elbow or something similar. Thanks to her unparalleled strength, entering the field of her 69-inch reach means her opposition is susceptible to her Judo/Sambo throws.

+ RELENTLESS WRATH: For all intents and purposes, Zolotova possesses an insatiable desire to inflict as much damage to other human beings as humanly possible, as she interprets the essence of the sport rather literally. Constantly testing the limits, Ana enters every fight with the intention of making her opponent bleed before either knocking them out or making them pass or tap out. As if she competes with a permanent forward lean, there is very little time in a Zolotova bout where she is not aggressing or at least fighting to get to her feet.

WEAKNESSES
– OVERLY ARROGANT: Because Zolotova’s combat skills are so elite, it’s rare for her to meet opposition that can stand level with her as an equal combatant. As such, she tends to underestimate opposition of all levels. While she studies her opponents rigorously, Ana is often too arrogant to acknowledge an opponent’s prowess, at least at first. As if the only language she speaks is violence, in most situations you need to earn Ana’s respect by beating it out of her. This weakness makes Zolotova disproportionately vulnerable to the parable of David versus Goliath—as such a consistent and drastic favorite in most matchups, underdogs often capitalize on this weakness to eke out victory.

– BODY BLOWS: Because Zolotova’s skillset is heavily predicated upon her relentless cardio, doling out body blows to impact her breathing has proven a consistent weakness for the decorated fighter. Whether it’s the ribs, kidneys, liver, or otherwise, strikes and throws aimed at the torso are the quickest way to slow down Ana’s offensive. As Zolotova is typically arrogant enough to begin her fights with fairly lackadaisical defense, she leaves herself open to this strategy early and often. If an opponent wants to win, it’s a fair bet they’ll risk the damage they’d invariably sustain entering Ana’s reach to pursue this avenue.

– LONG LAYOFFS: Zolotova has taken two sabbaticals from professional MMA that combine to total a decade of retirement from active competition. While she spent that time competing in professional wrestling and teaching the next generation of combat sports athletes, this does not serve as equivalent to the activity level one needs for continued high-end success in the sport. The step this has caused Ana to lose was visible in her Unanimous Decision loss to Allison Price in September 2023, her most recent professional MMA fight.

BACKSTORY
Anastasia Zolotova was raised to be the best in the world. She began her MMA journey as a child, training and competing in Sambo, Judo, Muay Thai, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for over two decades. Over that time, she earned a Black Belt in Jiu Jitsu; a 7th Dan in Judo; and Russia’s top athletic honor, the ICSF-Merited Master of Sport. As a professional MMA fighter, she earned COMBAT Cagefighting and FIGHTCORE International’s Women’s Bantamweight Championships, tallying six successful defenses over the collective course of a combined 690 days as champion. After seven years of having been retired from active competition, Zolotova made her return to professional MMA for WOLF Combat League in 2022. There, she captured the WOLF Combat League Women’s European Championship. After 20 career fights, Zolotova accrued 9 wins by way of submission and 6 by knockout. She now makes her return to professional MMA after three years of retirement from active competition.

When a weakness presents itself, Anastasia Karikovna Zolotova is relentless in her pursuit of worsening and expanding upon that weakness to the point the opponent cannot continue in one way or another. Typically an aggressive, yet methodical fighter, Zolotova does not give her opponents much time to recover. She predominantly targets the skull, using attacks at limbs and the body to wear down an opponent’s defenses. That said, she also is capable of focusing an entire offensive on a limb or the body. When an opponent shows any signs of pain on any part of the body, Ana will shift her focus there to capitalize. Typically begins fights with Leg Kicks as she assesses her opponent’s level of intended pressure (often throwing in other strikes of her own after enough damage has been done to the front leg of her opponent). After shifting focus from the leg to the skull, Zolotova usually headhunts until the opponent’s reaction-time is stifled. At that point, she resorts to her power-based arsenal, often transitioning from there to the ground game. Whenever the opponent assumes control of the pacing of the contest, Zolotova reverts back to headhunting, often deploying her Judo and Sambo background to regain control and use the opponent’s momentum against them. Rarely not on the move and even more rarely not on the move forward.
