BACKSTORY
Sometimes Syn’s relaxed demeanor is misinterpreted. Nonetheless, she’s always focused when she steps into the cage. She’ll often let her fun side show in press conferences and interviews.

Syn was introduced to the world of martial arts during her first year of undergraduate courses. A close friend invited her to sit in on a session of the Muay Thai club. They were working on basic stand up and technique that evening. Of course, she got roped in during the course of that session. While the idea of fighting was foreign to her at the time, Syn enjoyed the experience. She’d continue to train with the club for the remainder of the year.

Initially, she simply viewed Muay Thai as a way to have some fun and stay in shape. However, those thoughts began morphed as she became more involved. She’d eventually come to know and understand the history of Muay Thai, through her peers and some more senior members of her family. And from there, a passion was sparked.

Syn started to train at The Spartan Factory after she graduated from college. The gym afforded her the opportunity to hone her striking skills and branch out to other disciplines, such as Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. After earning her blue belt, the prospect of fighting professionally was brought up to her. She wasn’t too keen on the idea at first. However, her feelings on the matter changed after a couple of amateur fights.
