BACKSTORY
Rocco is actually for the people, like really for the people. He prides himself on being an activist, but life has its lust and Rocco easily falls to them. As much as he’s dedicated to being the best fighter he can be, he’s also in love with his local fame and sometimes that gets in the way of his career. Rocco’s never steered away, he just has been here to find that balance.
Fighting has always been a part of Rocco’s life. It’s pretty much all he knows.
Growing up in the tough streets of Redfern is never an easy task. You only make it out if you play basketball or a scholar. None of that happened for Rocco. Instead Rocco found himself drenched in the world of boxing. Especially after winning a couple fights at school. That’s where he started to grow his confidence. That’s where he started taking boxing seriously.
He ended up becoming an amateur boxer at seventeen, but at the same time he also met Jedi who is his wrestling coach. Jedi, an Olympic wrestler, was looking to train guys in wrestling who could box a little for mixed martial arts. Rocco got a glimpse of MMA at a local show and from there he was glued, never really going back to his boxing roots and training with Jedi.
At Nineteen Rocco fought two amateur bouts before going pro. Since then he’s gone on to become a local celebrity around New York and closer regions. They’ve really gotten a chance to see him grow into the fighter he has become now over the past five years. Even though his style of fighting isn’t flashy, and his fights aren’t always fight of the night contenders, Rocco has built a following through keeping his word and honoring who he is.
After ten fights around the circuit and regional gold, Rocco has decided to sign with UGP to continue his path in Mixed Martial Arts
