EVENT NOTES:
DRIP 9 is coming in hot for the first time in 2023 live exclusively on the Battleground Network at the state-of-the-art BST Center in Chicago, Illinois, and tonight’s card features four exciting matchups, all sanctioned at 135 pounds.

In the first fight of the night, Jalen Briggs faced off against Spencer White. The two fighters put on a great show, but in the end, it was Briggs who came out on top, winning by unanimous decision with scores of 30-27 from all three judges. Jalen Briggs comes from the Gold Blooded MMA camp and is the son of the veteran Middleweight Deebo Briggs. After the fight, Cass Madrigal came into the octagon and congratulated Jalen for a well-rounded fight. With the win, Cass offered Jalen a contract to compete in Everest MMA SZN 4, which he happily accepted.

Up next was the matchup between MANDEM and Freddie Frazier. This fight was over quickly, as MANDEM was able to knock out Frazier with punches at 1:23 of the first round. MANDEM is a very intriguing pick up for the card, as he first made his name “4da” is a former up and coming UK Drill Artist. He has oftentimes been in the tabloids for his crazy fights and blowups in the public eye. After several charges stacked up on MANDEM, Prodigy 206 Gym Owner Baby took him under his wing, sorted out his legal woes, and directed his aggression into MMA. Dante Reed liked what he saw, and offered the Prodigy prospect a contract to compete in Union GP. After spitting some bars that got the crowd riled up, MANDEM accepted the offer and vowed to make some noise in the growing division.

The Co-Main Event of the night comes with some major stakes at hand. It was announced during UGP 40 that newly signed Bantamweight Rocco Ray Jr. would have to pull out of the Grand Prix due to his recent arrest. A deal was struck that 9th World Miami would offer one of their newest additions to compete in a play-in bout for the open spot. All of that leads us to this fight, featuring 9WM’s Redd Lennox taking on Hannah Day. This fight was decided by a flash knockout, with Lennox finishing Day with punches at 1:46 of the second round. Afterwards, Dante Reed awarded Lennox a Union GP contract as promised, and she will be making a quick turnaround, making her debut right here in Chicago at Boss Fight XL.

The Main Event of the night was the match up between Taylor Webb and Scarlett Rosario. This fight was a lopsided battle, with Webb absolutely dominating on all fronts. This fight brought a lot of comparisons to the recent fight between Owen Barnes and Gauge Lattimore, however, Rosario’s corner knew when they saw the point of no return. Midway through the third round, Rosario’s coach threw in the towel, officially ending this fight by TKO due to a corner stoppage at 3:12 of the third round. Scarlett Rosario was escorted out of the octagon by the Ringside Physicians in order to receive more thorough care and with Taylor Webb in the cage with Perry Wallace, she cut a seething promo about how her singular loss on the regional circuit has driven her to borderline insanity when it comes to preparation and aggression in the cage. She spoke about how she doesn’t want to be tied down and restricted to one division, and so Wallace offered her a contract to the budding Ryūjin Fighting Championship branch. The two shook hands to make the verbal agreement official that capped off an intense and exciting night of fights.
