BACKSTORY
Total scumbag who could have already had a great MMA career if he didn’t constantly do stupid shit. Once heralded as a prospect with a lot of potential, Cal could never get going between falling out with gyms and numerous criminal convictions – a total of eleven that include five DUI’s.
He’s kept his fighting skills sharp with all the prison and barroom fighting. Cal won’t join a gym because he always leaves on very bad terms, so he just trains in his garage with Jim McCluskey – his father who is also his trainer and cornerman. Jim is smarter than Cal but not by much. He tries to keep him in line but struggles to keep himself out of trouble as well.
Cal actually has quite a background in boxing, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and judo. After all, he’s been at this thing for awhile. Even before training in those disciplines, he was very good at amateur wrestling.
The only reason he never had to do a grade over is because he lived in a town where the high school wrestling coach was very influential. Their reach extended to the police station, but they obviously stopped looking out for Cal once he left high school.
Cal regularly makes headlines in his local paper for various antics and is known as the town dumbass. He would have joined Union GP at the beginning but needed to finish an 18 month sentence for a bank robbery where he was arrested down the street trying to get a pizza.
Despite entering a very high level of competition, Cal still maintains his alcoholic lifestyle and is a prolific chain smoker. He also loves his fried food, fast food, and microwavable meals. Big marijuana fan as well, which puts his MMA career at risk during drug tests.
One could say Cal is a throwback to the Wild Wild West era of early/mid-’90s MMA – one that he could have been a part of if it wasn’t for aforementioned stupid shit. It remains to be seen if it isn’t too late for Cal or if the fight game left him in the dust.
Cal is loud and will showboat. He’s also prone to getting into shouting matches with fans and making lewd gestures toward them, the camera, and his opponents. His press conferences are a train wreck.
