BACKSTORY
Aziz Qasim was born and raised in the bustling city of Marrakesh, Morocco. Growing up, he was always fascinated by the athleticism and toughness of combat sports, and spent most of his youth practicing traditional Moroccan wrestling. As he got older, Qasim’s love for combat sports only grew stronger, and he began to explore other disciplines such as Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. It wasn’t long before he discovered mixed martial arts, and immediately knew that this was the sport he was meant to compete in. Despite facing resistance from his conservative family and community, Qasim continued to train relentlessly and eventually made his professional MMA debut in a small local promotion in Casablanca. He quickly gained a reputation as a skilled striker with devastating power, and went on to win his first six fights in dominant fashion. Despite his early success, Qasim knew he needed to compete on a bigger stage to truly prove himself as a world-class fighter. That’s when he caught the attention of Everest MMA, Union GP’s developmental brand. The promotion was impressed with Qasim’s explosive fighting style and undefeated record, and signed him to compete in their upcoming season 4 run.
