BACKSTORY
Cross is your typical ‘first to arrive, last to leave’ kind of guy, and when he has the bit between his teeth on something, you can expect hyperfocus. As a wrestler he always cared more about the art and the battle than he did about the entertainment and the selling, which didn’t necessarily align with his employers. He can be mistaken for a bit of a joker, not taking himself too seriously, and he’s a light-hearted character away from his work.
Originally born in the UK, Cross has already achieved success in two sports, playing four years with the Oakland Raiders in the NFL, branching out into a career in professional wrestling that has spanned for over a decade and counting. He is a multi-time World champion and one-time Hall of Famer.
After two years where he was, by his own definition, awful…Cross trained in Japan, where the penny finally dropped, and his skills improved. In the ring he favoured a hard-hitting style of strikes, combined with powerful grappling that some thought might transition well into MMA. He is also a passable boxer, having incorporated training into his workout regime for cardio endurance.
